We were lucky to catch up with TaiRhe Turner recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Rhe, thanks for joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I don’t know if I “wish” I had started this music path sooner necessarily because I’m grateful for the journey I’ve been on. However, I do wish that I would’ve valued my exposure to music earlier in life better. I grew up around church music. But, I knew I didn’t want church music to define me. I always felt like I was gonna do something outside of church and basketball was my first love, so that’s where my heart was. I played basketball all throughout school and into college. The common theme in my life has been lack of vision. I’ve always had the ability to work hard but, I’ve learned that if I don’t work with purpose, intention, AND BE PRESENT, I always leave chapters of my life with empty pages. Some could blame it on being diagnosed with ADHD as a child, but who hasn’t lol. I’ve turned this around in recent years and learned how to take control of the present.

Rhe, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am an RNB singer/songwriter/producer. I am also a natural health and wellness fitness coach. I grew up playing in church and still do today. I never wanted to be stuck in church, though and I always had a huge love for R&B. After I finished college, I decided that I would take music more seriously after playing basketball in college. So, I wanted to move somewhere near Atlanta and begin that journey. I landed in Milledgeville, GA where my childhood friend was finishing up college as well. Then, I moved to Macon after a couple of months.
So, after my longest relationship ended in 2019, I had to take a long look in the mirror. I didn’t leave that relationship with clean hands or feeling like I had done anywhere near my best to be the best I could be for myself or my girlfriend then. That bothered me. That’s when my inner work started. And that’s when Reflect Heal Elevate was born. This is the name of my brand and it serves as an acronym coming from my artist name, RHE.
Now this brand is an umbrella for original music and music production, jingles and audio branding, piano and keyboard services, and health and fitness. On the music side, I enjoy singing and performing covers and original music as well as creating music for other businesses and artists. I also love playing live music for businesses and artists. I just enjoy setting whatever mood I feel from my mind and making it come alive. I also enjoy teaching kids and adults how to play. On the health and fitness side, I do personal training and serve seamoss to my community. I love sharing my knowledge on what it means to be healthy. There are levels to the definition of good health, but I find that a lot of people are confused about what level they’re on and wonder why they struggle with chronic sickness and disease.
I’m just grateful to be doing everything that I love and look forward to reaching more and more people throughout this year as efficiently as possible.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Pretty recently, I was supposed to open up for Monica in Columbus, GA with my guy Cash Colione. It was a great opportunity I was looking forward to and felt very prepared for. This was a big week for me because I had a lot of music I was getting prepared for this week. The morning of the event, about 9am I was on my way to the Atlanta airport to pick up my friend who was in town to support me from Kansas and on the way I got pulled over by the police for having my phone in my hand while driving. The cop was cool, he wasn’t doing anything extra, just doing his job… I get it… He took my license back to his car, ran it, and came back to tell me to step out of the car. My license was apparently suspended. I was blown. I knew once they put them cuffs on you, whatever you had plans for is about to take a backseat to whatever the system got planned for you. But, I’m not the type to get easily discouraged, I look for answers. So, fast forward to 2pm, my bail is paid but I’m still in jail. I stay in hopeful spirits knowing that as long as I walk out at 5pm at the latest, I’m still good. Here’s the catch, there are no clocks on the cement walls of Henry County Jail. I get on the phone to talk to my friend to find out it’s 7:03pm. I feel defeated now. I’m just playing out everything in my mins as I know my boy is about to take the stage without me in just 20 minutes. There’s literally no way I can make it. “I need you, you, and you” the guard says, tapping me after opening the metal holding cell door. I sit outside the cell and wait for another 45mins or so until they group me and 4 other guys in single file line to be released. I get in the car and see that it’s 12:30am. At that moment I have a weird combination of feeling pissed and grateful. Fast forward a few days later and I put on one of the best performances to date at another show I was booked for. This experience showed me who I am today. And it’s not the same guy as when I started my Reflect Heal Elevate journey.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson I was taught was money doesn’t grow on trees. In actuality, there’s no shortage of money. Life is abundant. I realized this when I helped produce background music for the NFL. There was a team of about 6 of us. And the payout was $2,000 per man. This was for a commercial. And again, background music. No telling how much the actors got paid, the music coordinator, the video editor, etc. What there is a shortage of is disseminated information. Everything isn’t common knowledge and that’s by design, but what you look for you can find. So, for example I know if I set a goal of making six figures making music, it won’t fall from the sky but the information is out there to put together to make it happen.
