We recently connected with T’aira “sunny” Wyatt and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, T’aira “Sunny” thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear your thoughts about family businesses.

I believe that family businesses can be tremendously successful if what the family is creating a business around is something that multiple generations of the family are interested in it.
For example: I wouldn’t start an art business if my family is solely interested in financial literacy. The generations after mine would need to have some interest in art or I’d be setting myself up for failure.
If not failure, I foresee a short lived success span because maybe for a while you could come up with some creative ways to reach people surrounding financial literacy but eventually people pass on and things have to be continued on or sold. Assets need to be used not just held on to. It’s important to assess what trends in passion and skill set occur in a family dynamic.

I personally am aiming for my kids to never be an employee outside of their own works. My goal is to learn my kids so well that I can build business branches off of our main business specifically for each of my kids to share in their gifts with the world. I do my best to look out for what my kids are gravitating to naturally, in order to nurture those things in them to the highest capacity. This will help them grow confident at building wealth off of their gifts and abilities.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I am Sunny, T’aira founder of Eye Choose U; Joy LLC where we use art and programming to help parents/aspirational parents accept the fullness of themselves. We believe it’s vital for parents and those who desire to become parents to address unresolved issues within themselves so it is not passed onto their children. Kids first homes are their mothers generally accompanied by their fathers so it’s of extreme importance to be in the best possible state when that baby inhabits your bodies.

I have overcome postpartum depression three times and it has been art that has helped me out of those abysmal places when I didn’t have the courage to speak up and out about how I was truly feeling. I am also an author, poet, writer, creator, social worker, advocate, & all around artist. I provide tools that help provide perspective and space for our customers to commune with themselves such as poetry books, expression journals, and self-care tools. We walk those we serve through a rediscovery process that begins with creating a safe space for their inner child to roam free.

My mental health and frequency of creation have a very direct correlation. When I am expressing, I am deeply present. When I’m not, I’m pretty much toiling about what I could be creating. You can guarantee my mind is spinning on a plethora of creative ideas, programs, & art projects working to devise a plan out of a poverty mindset at any given moment.

I’m always intentional, like right now I feel myself gearing up, as I plan to create some paintings for my upcoming events. I am writing poetry with depth to emphasis our business goals and mission to align further with those who desire our services.

Eye Choose U; Joy is a very spiritual business and we stress the importance of an individuals mental health being addressed through intentional attention as well as self-care. Eye Choose U; Joy’s highest goal is to assist people with reaching their maximize potential in order to be an asset to their communities. We don’t believe that’s possible without a higher power.

It’s important for us to address all aspects of the individuals we work with in order to help them integrate with all parts of themself before they can reach their full potential and make their potential energy kinetic. We assist with doing the work that we all need support through by providing insight on what brings our customers joy, what keeps them away from actualizing it, and providing opportunities to indulge in more of that golden joy.

I am most proud of myself for my increasing ability to be accountable for all aspects of my life and for using my voice whenever I am called to. I am also proud of myself for being consistent with my business and always looking for more ways to grow in business as well as on an individual level.
Lastly, I am extremely proud of myself for having a great idea and then choosing to move on said idea to bring it to life. This idea is our BEST Life Project, Bringing Excellence & Solutions To Life project that has sparked our guests in beautiful, intimate ways.

Josh of Toledo was thrilled about how free and safe he felt to create what he wanted without strict guidelines letting us know that he hadn’t done anything like this since he was a kid.

Demetrius of Toledo said that he would surely be open to doing the BEST life project again as he enjoyed himself thoroughly.

My favorite part of our experience was enjoying everyone zone in to what they were creating and what our guests shared after given space to write down what their BEST life feels like. It was a lovely turn out and a beautiful experience that showed me just how valuable and powerful this really is.

If I had to spotlight a couple things about our business I would share that my kids are the driving force of Eye Choose U; Joy Llc being started. My kids have been what have kept me in my right mind for years. When I’m slipping, my kids remind me that I must continue despite any obstacles as they deserve the best possible life. They also remind me that it’s okay to feel and need a hug too. When I am overwhelmed I am reminded that joy is free as is laughter and smiling. Joy is always just a dance party away and they are my favorite to get jiggy with. My Nyla, Aion, and Luna.

Second, I would have to mention that suicide rates also are a driving factor for our business as we understand that it is effecting our youth in a drastic way. So it is dire for us to teach the parents of the kids that are susceptible to suicide, because of diverse circumstances, how to be gentle with their children. It’s important to recognize the signs of suicide and that it’s not always blatant. We have to pay attention to our kids so we don’t lose them to the toxicity of this face-paced world.

We want to help the parents be able to connect with their kids by detaching from their unhealed wounds in order to see their children for who they are, where they are. We also set out to assist our customer group with addressing their unhealed wounds because it creates room to move lighter in relationships with self, others, and the children. As we address our stuff, it makes addressing our children with respect, empathy, & compassion so much easier. Here at Eye Choose U; Joy we prioritize unraveling attachments in order to be our full, authentic selves that we were born into the world to be so perfect and godly.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

Absolutely. I have always been a deep thinker for as long as I can remember and as I child I would ponder on so many things. “Of all places I could be born I was born in Toledo, Ohio?!?” Seven year old Sunny thought. I have always been an observer too so I have been taking in a lot of data for quite some time. In my observation I have found that there has been a shortage of joy which can lead to suicide because people aren’t happy just because. A lot of people get easily caught up in their day to day and I despise that for the human race.

Though, I too innerstand. There are so many frustrating aspects of the matrix we live in. It would be easy to always choose to be angry but anger just adds to all the hate that already exists here. So instead we choose joy and love; “For The Love of Joy.” Love diffuses hate so it’s the highest vibrational choice to address the dynamic that exists undeniably in the world.

So world peace and purpose finding is driving my creative journey. We are choosing to create instead of destroy. We are bringing awareness directly to the people who desire it and aligning with all that we bring to light. And we are creating in a raw, abstract, unpredictable way. Our messages are diverse and able to be understood from a multitude of perspectives.

Lastly, what drives our mission is the fact that a lot of our ancestors were not permitted the freedom to enjoy things that interests them. My ancestors didn’t get to do a lot because of their adverse circumstances. I am here in a position where I do have freedom so I plan to take full advantage of that on their behalf. I set out to intentionally enjoy the things that they weren’t given access to experience. I love them so much I allow them to live through my life. It’s my purpose to appreciate them by choosing to live and thrive in a wild, vast way.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

I have had to unlearn or accept that sometimes family will not be your true support system as an entrepreneur. Sometimes family can limit your potential and keep you with a boxy view of the possibilities for your life. It can suck but those people must be released in order to make potential energy kinetic.

The backstory is just because people gave birth to you doesn’t mean they’ll see the destiny that God has for you. And I am frequently reminded that it’s not our story, it’s mine. Sometimes the people closest to you will work intentionally and intensely against you to create difficulty in you actualizing your dreams.
Jealousy and envy are very real as I have experienced them on both sides. Fortunately, I have learned to give people grace and compassion choosing to mind my business instead of being judgmental. I choose peace, respect, and acceptance which keeps life relatively simple for us.
