We recently connected with Taina Rosio Olmedo and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Taina Rosio thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
At the very beginning it was not easy!! I used to work 5 days a week in a Restaurant as a waitress, and I used to dedicate only one day to do what I really love, Doing Hairstyles !! When I decided to take the risk to be a full time hairdresser I was not having my best time , But God always was there, helping me!!
It was on the Pandemic days when the Restaurant I used to work closed and I got no other income, I had to take the decision to start by my own , I had at this moment 3 years working as a hairdresser but because I didn’t do it all the time didn’t have too many clients!
I had at this moment to try to build my own strategy to get clients so I did start posting on my Instagram account where at this moment had only less than 300 followers!
It was really hard but when you have the dedication and persistence you can do it! I did start meeting nice girls who did help me and I did start suddenly getting more clients because of the posts on Ig, after one year my page started to grow and also my clients, at this point I can say everything is Because of God!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
Hello Everybody my Name is Taina Olmedo , I live in Houston Texas and I am a Hairdresser, Since the first day I did start Cosmetology School I new my passion will be doing hairstyles, now after 6 years I can say doing Quinceañera’s Hairstyles is what I most enjoy in this profession.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The best Part of being a Hair Dresser is that I am my own Boss , now I can enjoy time with my kids, I can now take them to school, do homework with them , take them to bed at night time , All this things sometimes you have to sacrifice when you work for somebody else because you have to meet a schedule.
Now being my own Boss I do my own schedule and decide what days and what times I can work and I am so happy with this because family time doesn’t have price.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I am working right now renting a space on a Friend Hair Studio , But in the Future my goal is Having my own beautiful studio where I can offer my clients best service , quality service as always and also I would love to invest in opening an Academy to teach Hairstyles classes.
