Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tahnee Wayne. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tahnee, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
I’ve recently thought about this question last month as the new year was approaching. During the holidays, there is usually a lot of down time I go through as an artist because there really isn’t that much people shopping or in fact, shopping locally. There has been multiple times I think to myself, is it really worth continuing to move forward with my career or would I be better off having a job where I go to a building outside somewhere, stand for 9 hours stocking shelves and be miserable? Believe me, I’ve been down this road before and it’s been years since I’ve actually traveled on it. From this point on I would tell myself that you are stronger than what you think you are. What you have endured through those meaningless days on a job you’ve thought was right for you doesn’t even come close to what I experience each day with creating and expressing my emotions. I am happy as an artist and even if I choose not to create anymore, the joy I get out of creating and meeting others alike is totally worth and outweighs the depressive days I go through.

Tahnee, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Tahnee Wayne and the moniker I go by is godsprosyko. How I got into being an artist was by being a child who loved to create. I started creating and drawing when I was a toddler. Throughout my childhood, I was always doodling or coloring stuff. Here’s a snippet of a memory that recently came to me the other day. I remember being in 3th grade and it was so hard for me to concentrate on any type of work. I thought to myself why am I wasting time on learning stuff that’s boring when I could be drawing stuff that’s awesome? I used the time in class to draw anything and everything I could think of. I use to draw these comic book characters that I had created myself and think about all the cool powers each one had. When the class year came to an end I lost the book and I thought that was it. Later on when I graduated 5th grade I saw that very same notebook in the classroom in a box full of junk. I’m not sure where it came from or where it ended up but remembering that moment sends a smile to my face. I’m pretty sure it got dumped into the trash somewhere not to be seen ever again but it does remind me of how simple a dream can be to a kid. It’s the simple thoughts that I keep in my mind that help me through my artistic journey but through life itself. I’m proud to be that kid and I’m proud of all the accomplishments I have achieved within my lifetime. I will continue to amaze myself and hopefully others that are along for the ride.
I’ve been creating and practicing all throughout my younger adult life but actually started to do stuff on a professional side several years ago. It was a slow start at first but was difficult when the pandemic hit in 2020. I went and started to join different art groups and even joined an online art auction group just to see where my art would go. It’s been a blessing to me ever since. I got to meet other talented creatives and from there forward have been continuing more of my online presence. Social media is something I use to keep my fans updated with my day to day process. I try to update as much as I can but I’m always evolving and want to continue to use other tools that will help further my career. Since the pandemic has been lifted, I started to do more in person events and pop-up vending. I think it’s important to get to know the people that take interest in your art and talk in person because it allows you to explain your way of thinking and the creative mindset behind each piece. I’ve met a ton of people this way and hopefully it shows them that I appreciate every question and just their overall person in general. It’s human nature to be kind and caring.
Since the new year I feel like my mind and emotions have shifted into a different space. My main focus is to try a different approach than what I see in my older pieces. I love what I have created in the past but I feel like I can create something that would be appealing to a different audience. I want my art to be accessible to everyone but at the same time evolve to something that would be more of how I feel without losing the style I’ve created. I’m hoping that makes sense to some. I can only go bigger from here.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
To be honest I think it’s the freedom you have as an artist to share something that is personal to you with others and being able to share and connect with humans on a different level. I think it’s important to find other ways to connect and find a deeper meaning that helps us relate to what others are feeling or thinking. Being able to feel these emotions helps us understand more on what human emotions are capable of. Good or bad, it’s that connection that makes us feel whole.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
There’s quite a few actually. I wish I had more of an online presence back when the internet was just first starting out. I learned HTML and CSS and use to create webpages when it was free to do so. That didn’t happen till I had a computer and I use to go online through a service called WebTV. Very limited and didn’t have the applications to do any type of art. Seeing what art apps are capable of today is amazing to see but I do feel like the digital art scene is very saturated with too many trying to do the exact same thing. It gets repetitive after awhile.
I do wish I had more opportunities to showcase in galleries and events during my late teens to early 20s. I was still doing art but just wasn’t participating in any events due to low income and distance. A car would of been nice during that time.
