We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tahjá Cox . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tahjá below.
Tahjá, appreciate you joining us today. Everyone has crazy stuff happen to them, but often small business owners and creatives, artists and others who are doing something off the beaten path are hit with things (positive or negative) that are so out there, so unpredictable and unexpected. Can you share a crazy story from your journey?
Getting into entrepreneur ship you learn that when the money comes is great and you need to save that. There was a moment in my real estate career where I decided to go full-time after being in real estate for about six months having my license. And I had deals come in for about three months I had four or five deals last year. With it being the peak of Covid I ended up getting really sick. I had a severe case to where I didn’t work for two months and I didn’t get paid for about four or five months. Having that long extended without getting any pay was a very very humbling experience. I’m way more aware of how much I’m making, putting one to the side etc. And I kind of have a little bit of PTSD of going broke again. So just starting in entrepreneurship make sure you really get to know your market and when is the time you’re gonna be making money and when you may not. And when you’re not make sure you have some money sitting to the side.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve been in sales for a long time I’ve been in customer service for a long time. And it was about time that I started my own career. I got into real estate school January 2020 and it took me about five or six months to get my real estate certification. I actually went through Tarrant county college and was able to get my certification they are doing a semester of classes. I got my certification in May and I got my license in October 2020.
As a real estate agent I specialize in residential and land deals. I do have a rental properties as well. It’s my job to another market, no the DFW and how much homes are selling for. I also represent buyers and sellers.
I really had to put a lot of things to the side in regards of personal life. I decided not to really focus on relationships at all, I haven’t been on a real vacation in a couple of years honestly. But just seeing my fruits growing from all of my labor that I’ve been putting in it’s just beautiful and I know everything that I have kind of waited for is going to come back 100 times greater and I’ll be able to enjoy life a lot more.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I started doing social media about 10 years ago right after high school but I got a little bit more serious in 2014. I decided to build a brand as if I was already in entrepreneur. I start a YouTube channel as well focusing more on beauty tips. And I got a really big foundation that way. So once I knew I want to get into real estate every once in a while I would talk about the real estate market things that I’ve learned and I also documented my real estate journey and getting my license on my Instagram story. So before I even have a license I was definitely sharing when I was going through me taking my test me taking my classes etc. Kind of programming people to know that I was getting into real estate. So once I had my license everyone would automatically connect me with real estate and I didn’t have a lot of marketing to do because of that.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
My most effective strategy for growing my clientele is to stay consistent. Whether it’s getting clients from social media you’re needing to consistently post quality constant every 2 to 3 days on social media. Or if it’s through a lead generating system your follow up game has to be strong!!!
