We recently connected with Tahira Devine- Nimmons and have shared our conversation below.
Tahira, appreciate you joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
Creating a creative space was something that I dreamed of and just a year before I was denied a lease at this building that I wanted so badly. I thought that because I received business funding that I would automatically be suitable and well that wasn’t the case at all.
Fast forward a year later I was walking down the street in downtown Philadelphia, scrolling through instagram and I saw a studio for rent.
It was a blank space with beautiful lighting and lots of windows. I immediately sent it to my husband and asked him “ Should I go for it.” He said YES! And I booked a tour the very next day.
The Tour went well and I knew I really wanted the space but another business was looking to lease the space as well. It was going to be available on a first come first serve basis , so I went home and gathered everything I needed. I spent hours putting together my application. I was approved that week!
That was the Birth of The DIVA Room

Hi my name is Tahira DeVine- Nimmons I am the owner and Creator of The DIVA Room. A Creative office space located in Philadelphia, PA. The DIVA Room is a place for businesses and creatives to build the brands of their DREAMS. When I first Built The DIVA Room I knew it was going to be something that exceeded peoples expectations. I bring all my hospitality , attention to detail and customer service to the table. Giving my guest 5 star- Hands on experiences every single time. I am there steaming clothes, lotioning feet and fixing hair if I have to. Our Service has helped us receive amazing 5-star reviews making us a Powerhost on Peerspace and Voted as one of Philadelphia’s Top Creative Studios. I am extremely proud of that

Brand Loyalty is one of my favorite Topics. While we aren’t the only creative studio in Philadelphia, when our space fits their needs we love for our Guest to come back. On the front we provide exceptional service. Next step we follow up with our guest to make sure they had a great experience. We follow up with them via social media and Peerspace to share our love for their work. They love the studio and we love them.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Funding the DIVA Room took a combination of business funding, Silent business partners and Affirm! Yes, I said affirm. While I mentioned earlier I was denied studio space even though I had business funding $30,000 to be exact. When I got The DIVA Room it wasn’t based on the funding I received but the income I learned to make on my own as well as by businesses credit score. So it is important that you learn how to make money in your business and begin building your business credit score immediately.
