We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful TaDarius Cosby. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with TaDarius below.
TaDarius, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I started learning from doing my own research. I would watch a lot of YouTube video’s of my favorite designers showing themselves working on their collections, showing the design process of the fabric, materials and concepts that it would take to fully designed a garment. The skills that I think were the most essential to me was in creating concepts for my designs. I never wanted to create a garment “just because”. I wanted to create my own feel and designs that customer’s could relate to in their own way. To me it makes my audience feel like their apart of the process of when I’m designing and releasing these garments for them to purchase. Some of the obstacles that stood in my way would have to be not being fully hands on with the design process. I lived in a small city that doesn’t have the full proper tools & resources to source different types of fabrics and working with in house manufacturers. Everything is limited to an extent but I work around it to my own liking till I’m able to be fully hands on.

TaDarius, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is TaDarius Cosby, and I’m 27 years old from Chattanooga, TN. I got into the industry from my love for art, style and creative expression. I grew up watching music videos on 106 & Park and seeing people like Pharrell Williams and Kanye West wearing clothing that was different from what I was used to seeing. As I got older I started to learn more about different brands and different types of styles. I became more intrigued and eventually started my own clothing brand “VISIOŃE”. The products that I create are garments of clothing ranging from t-shirts, hoodies, jackets, accessories and etc. What sets me apart from other’s is that I create from a more direct approach inspired by real life concepts that I’ve experience that everybody can relate to or interpreted in their own way. What I’m most proud of is not being afraid of taking a risk to pursue my dreams. I definitely see the struggles of being both a young and black entrepreneur in this modern society; but definitely seeing the arising growth of other aspiring black entrepreneurs like Pharrell Williams, Virgil Abloh, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Martine Rose and so many more other black entrepreneurs that are breaking boundaries for the younger generation. The main thing I would want people to know about me and my brand is that everything I create comes from the heart. I never like to rush my work when I’m designing a collection or garment that I want to release to share with the world. I believe your best work is created when you don’t rush it cause your giving it all your attention. If you rush your craft then it will never be created at it’s fullest potential that you envisioned for it to be in the beginning.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing other people being able to express themselves wearing my body of work that I created from an organic creative expression.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The goal for my creative journey is to have my brand “VISIOŃE” fully established to the point where I’m able to explore other creative fields. Eventually I want to start up my own creative agency to help young creatives where they may lack proper resources to help them in their creative field.
