We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tad Jones. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tad below.
Tad, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
If I have to put myself in a “box” I am a photographer, videographer, content creator, storyteller (admittedly that box is still large and relatively undefined) but originally this all started with combining my background and degree in Business Management with creative work. My first “catch phrase” was Creative Ideas for Businesses and Business Ideas for Creatives. At the time I was a clinical practice manager that did creative projects on the side. I fell for the same trap a lot of people do where I thought I had to be all business during the week and just do my creative work on the weekends “for fun”. I had this pull/longing in me that kept tugging at me to do “more”. I started to more openly define myself as a creative. There is a whole story there on the challenges both internally and externally that that caused. As I got more involved in the creative community I found myself solving two different types of problems. I would help some people further develop their creative ideas or I would help creatives with the business side of their endeavors. Unfortunately, like most people, the pandemic came along and I allowed myself to get push off track and survived by becoming a gig photographer/videographer. In some ways I am appreciative of that because it allowed me to further develop those skills and deepen my understanding of the process surrounding those skills. My recent focus is to return to more a creative consultant, creative agency role. Helping people solve problems creatively.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
In a lot of ways my previous answer covered this. We offer a full line of photography and videography services. We also help clients with most aspects of “marketing”. I use that word loosely because I believe marketing is one of the most misunderstood/misused words in our industry. I believe we are especially good and helping people develop, create, and deliver their stories in effective and productive ways. Lately there seems to be a lot of focus brand story telling and content creation.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
My answer for this depends on the definition of effective. As a creative agency we help clients develop effective solutions to challenges, like growing clientele. Personally I struggle with the traditional more effective methods. My method for growing clientele is probably considered ineffective, at least less effective for most. And if I am being honest, the projects manager in me knows I could be more effective with this. So in my case I define effective as sustainable and fulfilling. As something I can feel good about and keep doing. Again the guy in me that has a BS in Management would roll his eyes at this. For me, it is all about genuine relationships, genuine compassion for the growth of my clients and my client’s clients. Although it can be much slower growing my client base this way it is effective for me because it works with my personality, my core beliefs, and my feelings. Perhaps that is something that sets us apart. We strive to factor in the human aspect of everything we do.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
It is so overused and cliche but my mission is to help people. To see them struggle with something and help make their ideas come to life. To make their life better in some way. The greatest compliment I have ever gotten and I have been blessed to get it twice is, things are better because you were here. That’s it, my goal is to make things better. Whatever that looks like. And it can look very different depending on the person, their goals, and their current challenges.
Everyone I work with must follow a pretty simple but hard to follow rule, ask people question and LISTEN to their answers. Talk WITH them, not at them.
