We recently connected with Tabitha Murray and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Tabitha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?

The most meaningful project I ever worked on was for one of my best friends who lives in another state. Her mom was a avid crocheter and had started an American flag blanket. During this time she got sick with cancer and unfortunately passed before ever being able to finish it. Fast forward a decade or more, my friend kept the unfinished blanket with the yarn and even the hook her mom was using.

I planned a visit to head up north to visit for her son’s wedding and made plans to finish this blanket while I was there. So when we were doing wedding stuff I was sitting on her couch finishing her mom’s blanket. I got it done the night before I was the fly back home.

Items like these can’t be replaced and they mean so much. I’m honored that she trusted me with such a prized possession and I was able to complete her blanket so it can be passed down generations.

My name is Tabitha and I am the maker behind Schatzi Stitches. Schatzi Stitches is all about creating beautiful treasures for you.

I started crocheting at a young age with my Granny. She nicknamed me her Schatzi, in German it means treasure. My Mom and Granny were both born in Germany and came to America.

My creations range from the simple wash cloth to the large dolphin and every animal in between. I love making new things. I enjoy helping people’s visions come to life with special orders of baby mobiles and lovies.

You can follow me on social media where I am now launching patterns, free and to buy. Many new ideas are in the works!

My word of the year is flourish. And I hope Schatzi Stitches does just that. I have many ideas in the works and I would love for everyone to follow me on this journey.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

My goal would be to make Schatzi Stitches grow enough to be my full time job.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

I believe what makes me stand out is I truly care about my products. I want each new friend I create to make someone happy and I stand behind my work.

I also want to support my community. I donate to charities, I like to give my animals for raffles for local events, and any opportunity that will benefit those in need.

I’m currently working on a new line hoping to perfect it so some of the proceeds can go to animals in our local shelter.
