We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tabitha Kit a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Tabitha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.

Prior to starting my company in 2017, I worked as a spokesperson and model for various brands. During that time, people often approached me seeking advice on how to enter the industry and requested my assistance to obtain work. I discovered that I had a talent for connecting people and found joy in helping others embark on their journeys. The idea of starting my own agency had always intrigued me, but I had never pursued it until I realized my passion for supporting others. However, being both an agent and an on-camera talent would create a conflict of interest, so I knew I had to leave my current job. This decision was risky because there was no guarantee of success for the business I was starting. Nevertheless, with dedication and hard work, I have built a successful company that I now manage. This venture has been transformative in many ways, and I am incredibly happy with the choice I made. It serves as a reminder that many businesses are built upon calculated risks. Although it may feel intimidating, one should not let fear deter them from pursuing their goals.

Tabitha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I am the proud owner of Kit International Talent, a fully licensed talent agency based in California with an additional presence in the US Southern Region. Our expertise lies in representing on-camera talent for film, TV, and commercials. Our talented clients have had the privilege of working on numerous significant projects. In addition, we boast a live event division, where several of our spokesmodels can be spotted nationwide, associated with renowned companies like Indian Motorcycle and Polaris Slingshot.

While there are numerous excellent agencies in the industry, I believe something unique about our agency is the dedication to providing personalized career attention to our clients, it’s something that many of them appreciate. My roster is purposely kept small to allow for hands-on representation ensuring that they have the best chance for success.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

I am dedicated to maintaining a high level of organization, responsiveness, and productivity in my work. It is important to me that tasks do not linger on my desk for extended periods. I take measures to ensure that tasks are completed promptly. This approach has been well received by my clients. However, I recognize that the company’s reputation is not solely because of my efforts. Our amazing clients play a crucial role in our collective success. Their hard work and talent greatly contribute to our reputation. They are the people who impress casting directors, studios, and the companies we work with ultimately leading to our success.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?

Maintaining high morale in this business is crucial as we all mirror one another. I am selective in choosing who I work with to ensure our company’s reputation remains intact. Creating a positive and supportive environment is essential, and leading by a positive example is equally important. I take pride in the strong support system that my clients have created for one another.
