We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tabitha Frazer. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tabitha below.
Alright, Tabitha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you share an important lesson you learned in a prior job that’s helped you in your career afterwards?
The most important lesson in all of my previous work experiences is the value of making personal connections. Without these connections, growth and collaboration do not exist. No matter what career field, job, goal, or life choice – connection with other people either builds or hinders the potential for expansion. Connection also allows us to experience exposure to other avenues, perspectives, and ideas that have not been considered before – allowing for greater knowledge and ultimately more clarity around our own desires and paths to get from one point to another with greater ease and a feeling of cohesiveness.
We are surrounded by messages of competition from every angle – look better, make more money, be the best, climb higher, beat the competition, get to the top first, but in all reality that is a “scarcity” mindset. If we truly consider the resources, wealth, population, and innovation potential, there is absolutely enough for everyone! What if we can embrace connections with others along similar paths, to join together for greater impact instead of fighting to be “the best?” I believe we are stronger as a united front for what we envision. Working together, building connections, and supporting others along their journey, as well as our own journey enhances the environment for everyone involved. This also means celebrating our differences and being content in understanding that we all have a variety of strengths. My strength can compliment your strength. Your knowledge can allow me to grow – we all win with this inclusive and collaborative mentality of connection.
As I think back to my time working within government offices, this approach holds true all over the world. Military and government members use this connection power to gain their future positions. It’s not always what you know, but who you know, and how you have interacted with them along the way. That is literally how I landed every job overseas, and how I observed other contractors and military members approach job openings. Make the connection, do your job to your best ability, bring others along with you who share similar work ethic and thought processes. Everyone wins.
As a former public school teacher, I landed my first position – fresh out of graduate school – because of who I had befriended as a parent, volunteering in my children’s classrooms, offering support to other teachers. These are the choices that can make a difference in future positions. As a teacher, working with other educators and mentors was vital for the well-being of raising the child – offering an environment of greatest potential. This is only possible when working WITH others, allowing for space to learn and grow.
Now within the wellness world, my goal is to work with others who also strive to help our communities achieve healthier, better balance, revitalizing others with natural tools from a holistic approach. I cannot do this alone, nor do I want to. There aren’t enough days or decades for me to learn every single wellness modality, but if I am connected to others who have already obtained these skills, I can uplift their journey and services while they uplift mine cooperatively and cohesively. There is enough for everyone! We can work together without the fear of someone else “winning” because if we are all truly looking out for ourselves and for humanity, connection is the key.
Tabitha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My path was absolutely unplanned (by me). I have always felt a pull to make a difference in the world – a positive difference, leaving spaces better than I found them – mostly from a human connection standpoint. This has been more beautiful and challenging than I could have imagined. Who knew not having a plan or any inkling of how to move through life would turn into such an adventure?! And the next several chapters are just now being written!
As a child there was never a message of “follow your dreams” or even discussion of a larger life outside of small-town Kentucky. Blue collar family living does not offer ideas of grandeur, success, or positive impact. Finishing high school was the goal. Get a job, pay the bills, get married, have children. As the first person in my family to resist this established belief system, I no longer fit in. My desire to break the mold by avoiding teenage pregnancy and attending college, I had already exceeded expectations, so when I hit burnout, overwhelm and lack of direction, I’m not sure anyone was surprised. I also defied the strict religious beliefs, going against authority, and left my small town with strangers, searching for more meaning and a way out. While there are many things I appreciate about my upbringing, the person I am today is attributed to 3 decades of experiences – far beyond the state lines, and more importantly, outside of the United States. Embracing cultures, adventures, and the unknown has taught me so much about humanity and how we are so similar in many ways.
My business approach is personal. I connect with others at every opportunity because I believe we all have value. A simple gesture of acknowledgement can be the beginning of beautiful friendships and working relationships. I never discount a person because of their age or background. I speak to others with respect and with curiosity. I believe everyone has something to share. Just ask. Each person deserves to be seen, heard, and acknowledged.
As a former Kindergarten Teacher, I allowed each child to express themselves and encouraged them to embrace their differences while learning to work together. A box of crayons is the best example I can offer. Open a new box of crayons and just look at the variety of colors, but more importantly crayons fit inside the box next to other colors that are vastly different. If we can learn to look at people with this same perspective of acceptance and collaboration, our pictures (and businesses) are much prettier, more beautiful than if we were all just one shade – one dimensional creations are no fun!
I help others realize their own value. There is great power in knowing our own worth while releasing the need to always compare ourselves to an idea that society has imposed. My services assist in creating badass boundaries that clients adopt for themselves, leading to the enhancement of living a bit brighter, free of self-criticism. Why is this important? Authentic living is the only way our creative minds can freely connect to ourselves and with the outside world. I say live a little louder, take up more space, use your voice. This doesn’t mean everyone has to be boisterous, but rather choosing the version of themselves that brings the highest potential. For some, that means supporting from behind the scenes. For others it may be on stage, presenting in the spotlight! Releasing stuck energy, trauma, mis-beliefs, and roadblocks to succeed – in whatever area of life, career, relationships, and daily living is the goal.
My EFT Tapping services address client obstacles and barriers – an understanding and connection between mind, heart, and body is the key for moving forward with clarity and empowerment. My yoga sessions are unique to each group of participants – approachable enough to manage, yet challenging enough to be effective. If we can take others just beyond their comfortable boundaries, the realization of possibilities arises – a beautiful practice of growth without overwhelm.
My in-home meal prep services is how I continue to offer love and nurturing to others through food! My young pallet was untrained, but after living in Europe for 9 years, I discovered a whole new appreciation for flavors, complexities, and natural goodness that comes from the Earth while creatively combining a variety of cuisines. I simply love to cook! After working in several restaurants, my goal is to offer a more personal approach to others with healthy, simple, delicious food.
I am most proud of my ability to now combine my passions for natural, healthy living, offering tools and resources to others – a sense of purpose and hope – building community both locally and across the globe. I work with many other small business owners who have the same desire. I want to link others together in oneness as I strive to make a positive difference. Please reach out if you also want to share in positive growth and community within your own realm of expertise. Time with Tabitha encompasses a variety of services, but it is never really about me. It is about giving myself permission to show up as me, while encouraging others to show up as they are, perfectly imperfect and wonderful!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Someone once asked for one word I could offer to best describe myself – Resilience was my one word!
I learned to embody resilience at a young age. With no extra money, limited resources, and a family that could not offer professional guidance, I was trained from the very beginning to figure things out – to make it work! To look for and seek out options to try (and fail). I have pivoted several times throughout my life to adjust for unforeseen surprises. A failed marriage will help with resilience. Choosing a challenging and often thankless career field will also help with resilience.
I have learned that humans will often choose suffering and challenges until we feel so broken that we MUST make a different choice in order to succeed. This takes resilience. While I may have taken a twisty, winding road to get here, I am finally embracing this moment, this journey, and the lessons within. My resilience is what brings me back to moving forward – one step, sometimes a mis-step, but still a step forward. I have felt defeated, unsupported, and chaotic along this journey, but if I return to nature, faith, and believing in myself, the path seems less difficult. Resilience keeps my chin up, heart open, and hopes a little higher.
I did not have a dream as a child. Experience, education, and growth through healing and mindful choices have allowed me to now believe I can dream – bigger! My resilience will continue to move me forward, My curiosity will allow for a greater vision, and my connection to others will open doors and opportunities that I have not yet imagined.
My determination to step into a more impactful role keeps me motivated. My resilience when disappointments arise keep me going. I’m now living as an example for others to step into their dreams and aspirations with more confidence and faith. My resilience will bring other like-minded souls together so we can improve our communities, families, and ultimately our world.
There are multiple ways to expand and grow. Resilience will take me there.
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
If I could go back – hell no I wouldn’t go back!! As much as we believe our lives might be better if we had made different choices in the past, we would be completely different people. I spent many years grieving – in a state of loss and inadequacy over timelines that really do not exist. I entered college at 17 with no real plan other than leaving home – psychology seemed intriguing, so that was my first major.
We are given ridiculous expectations that do not serve us. For example, no teenager belongs in college at 17 or 18 years old. The human brain isn’t even completely developed yet. We get in such a hurry to finish, to succeed, to launch into careers that we have no real knowledge or experience to adequately make life-altering decisions about, much less the amount of time and money wasted on these pathways that are unclear. I encourage all young people to gather some life experience before making these huge decisions. College will still be there – waiting for you to attend, or not! Life experiences and adventure offer so much more -to then make informed decisions. Work a little, play a little, and learn to take ourselves a little less seriously – having some fun along the way.
If I could go back, I would encourage my younger self to explore more options first. I would consult others much older and wiser, but again this would have changed my trajectory. This might have been a disaster, so I have adopted the belief that there are no mistakes as long as we can embrace the failures and use them to make better decisions. There are no chance encounters, and we certainly have the ability to choose a different path at any moment throughout our lives. We are not stuck – we create the life we want, or we suffer until the suffering becomes too much.
I would have left my public school teaching career earlier. I will always be a teacher. Now I get to embrace the idea of a wider range of choices, ages, cultures, and avenues. So no, I would change very little about my professional career – knowing that I am here in this moment, on purpose.
