We recently connected with Tabitha Clark and have shared our conversation below.
Tabitha, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
As someone who has always had a passion for cooking, entertaining and bringing others together, developing my own cafe’ where I could so on an even larger scale was a true dream.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am not only a cafe’ (business owner) but, a law school student, who also has an undergraduate in Psychology, and an MBA.
My end goal upon graduating from law school/bar is helping other business owners navigate the industry. Understanding the importance of contracts, legal jargon etc.
What I am most proud of is being told I would never work again when in 2011 I had to retire from the Department of Defense on disability. I took the time is research my illness and did what they told I couldn’t do. My lifelong illnesses will be with forever but, I didn’t allow it to define me.
How did you build your audience on social media?
What I will say about leverage on social media is use it to your advantage. Many people think of social media as evil however, when used in the way it was meant it can be invaluable.
Example, use it to tag those in which you wish to grab their attention I.e. radio, influencers, etc. if done with tasteful content, intentionally they will eventually take a look or even follow.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
All money or business isn’t good money or business. Meaning, everyone isn’t necessarily your customer and it’s okay.
