Alright, Tabby thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?

I don’t. I have Bethany Mays of May’s media that handles all of it. She took over once I saw the need for it trending and she was starting out. Absolutely do it. Set a budget and you will see results.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I am Tabby. I am the owner of Tabby’s Bartending. I have been in the restaurant industry since I was 19 and have been serving Lynchburg now for over 35 years. I started bartending at 21 and fell in love with it. I love the hustle, the conversations, and the atmosphere. I have worked in corporate restaurants, dive bars, fine dining, and hospitality. Banquet bars started my curiosity for the wedding industry and it just went from. there. I had my first gig at Tresca in 2011 and they say the rest is history. Running a buisness is tough, stressful, and rewarding all in one. The toughest is balancing my staffs personalities with the clients vibes for the perfect match on what I refer to as game day. I think my personality has gotten me where I am, and now the honesty with it has allowed me to grow. My passion and willing to never give up has allowed me to succeed and withstand the times.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

Covid. 2020 was the absolute hardest on me and my business. My willingness to honor every contract and to try to make the most I could out of uncharted waters.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

It was the end of 2021, and the best advice I ever gotten was don’t quit your job until the business is too much and to busy for your job, that time was 2021 and I finally hung up the restaurant cleats, so to speak for good.
