Tabatha , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with talking about how you serve the underserved, because in our view this is one of the most important things the small business community does for society – by serving those who the giant corporations ignore, small business helps create a more inclusive and just world for all of us.

Tabatha Trammell is the founder of nonprofit organization called”Woman with A Plan” it’s located in the Gwinnett county area of North Atlanta. .Woman with A Plan focuses on women and girls returning from prison or jail. Our mission is to Encourage,Embrace ,an Empower our clients to renter society and their communities in a positive manner.The community has a deficit when it comes to services for returning citizens women and men , with a greater need for women and women with children. This work is one of Tabatha’s many passions, she spent time in prison ,battles with mental health issues, and she’s a person in long term recovery from many years of cocaine abuse.. Ms.Trammell uses her lived experience to help others .

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I got into the reentry circle because when I got out of prison the resources was limited for women and girls and I was tired of going back and forth do to my underlying issues which was depression which I treated with the cocaine for several years..Woman with A Plan not only works on the ReEntry but also referrals to mental health evaluations, drug addiction placement and services. .Woman with A Plan has a new project “ Dorcas Doula Initiative “ ( DDI) Dorcas is Hebrew for ”Tabatha” , this project provides doula services for women in the BIPOC communities. DDI offer breast feeding consultations and education.full spectrum doula services and family match placement for formerly incarcerated an incarcerated mothers. Tabatha is a certified full spectrum doula, certified prison doula, postpartum doula, and abortion doula and Lactation Consultant.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

Doing the same thing expecting different results! ( Insanity) Trying to better my skill at selling and using drugs.. I surrendered and changed my mindset ,admitted I was an addict and that was the beginning of my positive recovery journey. (14 years no cocaine)

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

My reputation is just like my story Authentic! I live my story out loud with the intention of freeing me from my trauma and helping someone else with the same lived experiences.
