Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tabatha James . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tabatha , appreciate you joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents taught me to find balance. Growing up in an athletic family, we were always running from basketball, football, softball, track, etc. Even though my parents worked very hard, they always managed to make it to all of our events. They have always been very supportive and encouraging. They really taught me to believe in myself and have faith in God and keep that balance. This advice has brought me very far and has helped me to achieve so much.
It’s easy to get so caught up in the day to day hustle, but in my own family we make sure we pull back and take time to spend with each other. We also support each other’s goals. That support system is vital.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Before I became vegan I suffered from digestive issues and skin issues. I was fit but still plagued health problems. One night back in 2016 I was researching health remedies and came across the documentary Vegucated. After watching it I became vegan overnight. Within three months of becoming vegan the health issues disappeared.
I founded The Sensible Vegan as a means to educate people about veganism. I have a vegan blog full of recipes that are 10 ingredients or less, I write vegan children’s books, and I love attending vegan festivals and events with my family.
I recently launched vegan banana pudding, and it’s so good that most of my customers are non-vegans.
My goal is to create a vegan children’s book series, and my daughter and I are currently working on a vegan children’s book together.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
There has been A LOT of trial and error and long nights of preparing and throwing away product. Before becoming vegan my non vegan banana pudding was very popular among family and friends, so when I wanted to create the vegan version I tried many different combinations before getting it how I wanted it to be. Once family and friends sampled it and wanted more and more samples, I knew I was on to something!
Have you ever had to pivot?
Becoming vegan was a major pivotal point in my life. It laid the foundation for creating a vegan business and where I am today, The more I read about veganism, the more I wanted to learn. I ended up getting my holistic nutrition certification as well.
