Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to T. Todd Simon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
T. Todd, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When you’ve been a professional in an industry for long enough, you’ll experience an industry-wide U-Turn, an instance where the consensus completely flips upside down or where the “best practices” completely change. If you’ve experienced such a U-Turn over the course of your professional career, we’d love to hear about it.
In the Banking/Finance & Mortgage industry there are constant changes, and you have to get used to that. For example, there could be guideline changes that completely alter best practices and it’s up to us, as the professionals, to understand & be able to communicate changes to our clients.
Over the last year, we have seen several interest rate changes by the Federal Reserve and that can lead to a feeling of uncertainty with the general public. My goal is to always be a student of my craft so that i can take the time to educate my clients on the cost associated with homeownership and that NOW is always a good time to purchase an asset like Real Estate.
T. Todd, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a 20-year vet of the finance industry. Holding various positions with JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America, Guild Mortgage, PRMG Mortgage, just to name a few!
The “WHY” behind my journey is simply to Be the Change I Want to See in My Community! It’s historically documented about the disparities and socio-economic issues we face as a whole. Instead of complaining or being upset about it, I decided to be a part of the solution for change in Black and Brown communities.
The one thing I always kept in my heart was a saying that my grandmother & Mother repeated “NOTHING worth having comes EASY”
My assignment is the help close the Wealth Gap in America and change the narrative on what it means to be a Black Real Estate professional… I never expected it to be easy!
What set me apart is the level of dedication i have for helping my clients get to the closing table and realize the dream of homeownership!
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I believe that being consistent, trustworthy and having the ability to deliver bad/good news, with a solution to the problem is the key to attracting & maintaining great relationships.
I am a proud US Navy veteran! That training has helped me identify in business & personal interactions that character, honor, respect, confidence, and a solid work ethic always gets the job done.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
“The Servant Leader “by Ken Blanchard and Phil Hodges This book has help me to identify & transform Heart, Mindset and Habits toward leadership!
Once of the biggest takeaways for me was understanding the difference between “Success” and “Effectiveness”
Success – You can meet your short-term goals but neglect the development of those involved in helping you the Loan Term Vision
Effectiveness – Same path, but the development of those involved are just as important as meeting the goal. That way once you get to the finish line, everyone is better off!
