We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful T Rose. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with T below.
T, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear how you think where to draw the line in terms of asking friends and family to support your business – what’s okay and what’s over the line?
Do it! Those should be the first people you’re able to go to. Let them know what you have going on, what you need , and they many ways they can support. Send that text , send that email , tag them on social media . In the past I’ve sent my flyers for the nights that I’ve headlined shows in every group chat I’m apart of so that they know what’s coming up and they showed up , they posted the flyer themselves , if they couldn’t make it they brought tickets anyway. I will say to keep in mind you know who your friends and family are, don’t blast a chat or tag them every day if you know there are individuals who don’t like a lot of notifications. There’s a difference between asking and begging for support , the minute you feel like you’re begging or chasing after it stop. If they don’t want to , they aren’t going to. Running a business takes resources, mainly monetary so asking me for a discount up front is where I draw the line. I usually take that into consideration and but at the same time do not feel entitled to one , if you support me you should want to support fully. There was a time when I was asked to sing for a wedding or an anniversary and asked my price , once told , the response was along the lines of “you can’t go any lower ?” , “that’s like family “. I don’t feel like that should be expected because it is not always possible.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Of course !
I am a singer ,songwriter, and model. I started off with music back in 2018 doing open mics and events around my city from Grip the Mic , Soulfam’s open mics, to The Uproar Project’s Artist Showcase and from there it kind of just took off. I started to perform with bands, record and write my own records, shoot my music videos , and collab with some amazing creatives and build on those relationships.
As far as modeling , one of my model sisters spotted me at an event I performed at called Luv the Skin your in and asked me if I’d ever thought about modeling , short answer was yes , I’ll give it a shot. She sent my picture to the designer , we were both excited to meet each other, I went to the rehearsal the Sunday after the event and its been an amazing time with The Bella Redd Collection since.
I started my company called the Taylor Rose Ent LLC in November of 2022 and it houses everything i do. I am a versatile artist with a unique blend of talents in singing, songwriting, modeling, and here and there i do event hosting. I bring a dynamic and engaging presence to every performance and event I am a part of. My powerful and emotive vocal range as well as my captivating stage presence allows me to create unforgettable musical experiences.
As a model, I possess a natural ability to embody different styles and concepts, bringing a touch of elegance, charm , and a little spice to every photoshoot or fashion show. I am dedicated to delivering top-notch performances, memorable music, and unforgettable event experiences. Whether it’s a concert, a fashion show, or a corporate gathering,
I’m most proud of myself for pushing through everything life has tossed my way and remaining myself, and growing through it all. My spunky attitude , my free spirited-bubbly personality , and go getter work ethic is what sets me apart.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
So to be very open t I had no idea what I was doing at first , I would just post and go but there’s more to it and I’m still learning. Growing my audience on social media took time and patience. I had to learn and figure out who my audience was and who I was trying to target, what they wanted to see by what posts were liked the most, what was trending at the time , the proper hashtags to use all the while still showing them T,Rose and giving them pieces of me. I started to post more frequently and go live whether it was a rehearsal or an event . The content ranged from mental health , spiritual wellness, transparency posts, to of course covers , performances , and events etc. The best advice I can give is to learn your audience and consistency is key!!
