Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to T La’Toyia Warren. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi T La’Toyia , thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I was working in corporate without a thought of professionally pursuing my artistic career when I was suddenly laid off. During the time, I became depressed with the thought of not knowing which direction I should take my path when my husband suggested I get back into modeling.
I began in backstage production and developed a talent for production as well as performance.
What began as a hobby grew to a full time passion that now includes, modeling, dance, podcast hosting, acting and fashion/entertainment production.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Today, I am most proud of the fact that I came from working backstage to becoming a top consultant and producer in the fashion/entertainment industry.
I host a talk show, Queenz of Conversation, with another host and together we have grown the show to International reach where we stream to online radio, Indie Plug Media. We are also on the DTRtv network where you can stream episodes on any device including your television.
I have been dancing professionally for over 2 years with the Curvy Queenz of Dallas.
I also developed a love for cosplay and makeup.
I am an advocate for those with disabilities. I, myself have dealt with the effects of Alopecia Areata for over 20 years now. I would wear wigs to cover what I believed was unacceptable in mainstream fashion. I shaved my head 1 year ago and currently enjoy the versatility of wearing wigs as as well as my bald head. I have done several shows and photoshoots bald. Since embracing all aspects of me, I feel my passion has deepened. I do not have to compromise who I am and that has been a phenomenal experience.
I currently have 3 movies streaming on Amazon Prime and numerous other collaborative projects with individuals here in the DFW, Las Vegas and New York.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The Lesson: Someone’s perception/opinion of you does not have to be your reality.
In the beginning of the article I mentioned I started out backstage. I was an assistant to a producer who told me the best position for me was as an assistant and working backstage stage. I would believe this lie for a number of years till a designer took a chance on me to bring me out front and not only serve as assistant.
I do not regret my time in the background as I gained knowledge and experience that has served me in the business of “Show Business”. I can serve in any capacity from administration, decor, modeling, photography and etc.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal/mission that is driving my creative journey is the fact that I have breath in my body. I have always had my hands in a creative project since I was young and that desire did not change when I became a wife and mother. I placed my goals on the back burner only to see that I was not fully living. Now, I can wake up knowing I am moving in the direction of my goals and truly making my dreams come true.
My children are watching me and they keep me motivated to continue to climb and open doors that were once shut off for them to walk through.
