We caught up with the brilliant and insightful T-Huny a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

T-Huny, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?

One of the most meaningful projects I’ve been working on is my album called “Life on Paper”; executed produced by Herb Middleton (Grammy Nominated and Multi-Platinum Producer and the Founder of Moontown Records and Publishing.) This project is important to me because it stands for change to bring awareness to Domestic Violence and also other issues many may face worldwide. In this album, I will be expressing how I’ve navigated through many trials and tribulations such as Domestic Violence, hardships, adversity and more. It will show my emotions and how I channeled through them, and more importantly I will be talking about how God got me though the hardships, pain, and heartbreak through His love and Word. This project collectively will be artwork for the ears, to musically soothe anybody hurting and silently suffering. I want to bring them hope, Faith, love and joy, as I aim to help save lives, by sharing my stories on the “Life on Paper” Album.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

Well.I am grateful to be an independent mom of 4 beautiful and amazing children. I graduated with a degree in Science and I own a TV Network, Radio Station and Clothing/Footwear line. I’m T-Huny, a Hip Hop Artist and songwriter, a creative, who has learned to channel emotions through the lenses of music and instruments and beats. I’d like to say I speak for those who can not fathom the words to do so. For those who suffer silently at the hands of weakness. Where I come from, violence, adversity and pain is common, so at a young age I had to learn how to maintain peace. God is peace and I like to express that through my writing. God is peace and God is love (1 John 4:16), and it is important to share this message with others. So I approach my musical content with that in mind to deliver positive and expressional songs. I like to gravitate my audience through storytelling and poetry. More importantly I like to uplift and give hope. I started my musical journey by first writing poetry and then I started creating songs. I then moved onto become an entrepreneur by creating an online radio station and TV Network that caters to Independent artists and business owners. I also stretched my creative abilities to become a designer and have put together several clothing and footwear collections under the brand “Dope Black Fashions” which stands for “Do Pray Everyday Be Loyal and Create Kings”. That’s what Dope Black means. Aside from what i’v already discussed, I am a graphic designer under my company Designs by T-Huny and I enjoy bringing people’s ideas to light.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?

Society as a whole can support each other more. Instead of just promoting your music, promote other artists that you find to be of your liking, because good music is good music and should be shared with the world. Society as a whole can start by simply supporting their peers and sharing adequate advice and information. This can take the creativity to another level. Sometimes, I find that sometimes family and friends can say they support, but ask for discounts or do not share your events or flyers or links on their social media pages. Another example is business owners withholding valid information that could potentially help others but chooses to sale the information rather than offering. If these types of issues changed, then it’ll assist in creating a better organization of entrepreneurs. So, to conclude my answer, society can support one another more.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?

Honestly, the greatest book of all time has reshaped my mind and it’s way of thinking entirely and that would be The Holy Bible. The Bible is filled with poetic stories that more than justifies our existence , purposes, missions and placements in life, for the past, present and future. Having God on your side, in your mind, heart, body and soul can only benefit you and so I challenge everyone to read the Bible, or read it more if you already do and to pray and to allow God into your life. This will bring you strength, love, peace and everlasting life.
