We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Syupreme Richardson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Syupreme thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
Being the first is the hardest yes I was the first independent manager breaking away from the industry standard but it took a lot of time and dedication to began the benefit of it all. Long hours and long nights can pay off with consistence and finding the right people to work with. Supreme Entrainment was born in the late 80’s early 90’s coming to change the game for independent artists and the way their music is distributed and the business part that most over look.
Syupreme, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Supreme Entertainment partnered with BMG Records (Black Market Gang) to help give independent artists access to management services and working with the artists development having the artists to focus on talent and creativity while we handle the administrative business
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I was told that independent management is not possible but today it is and many are trying to master the position as an artists manager. I take management as a life coach each clients life and career is in my hands and I must find the best ways to work with their success. Its hard to find good talent and humble talent so being picky is not in process but finding the needle is the best part.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Supreme Entertainment partnered with an independent artists that we signed Bugzy Streetz to form a independent label that can be more of a resource for independent artists called Black Market Gang (BMG) and out of that came the BMG Boyz it was hard to find the right fit for a while until we signed Sinbad 1Life than the BMG Boyz was unleashed on the world. Supreme is not just a manager he is an agent for change formal 3rd Vp for the Boston NAACP and now is the Assistance Executive Director for BLM RI African American Innovation Center. To take this mans journey there is no short cuts he is a radio host for Whatz Up Boston on wrbb104.9fm every Tuesday night and so much more for the industry and community that no one sees.
