Sytinenia, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
So during February of this year, I thought it would be nice to give back to my customers that purchased. A way to show them some love! Especially since February is known for Valentine’s day. I got this idea since I wasn’t able to be with my love (Due to him being in the military and away) I wanted to just love on my customers. So for that entire month, when ever someone order, they received a bonus pair of heart stud earrings! Customers loved it! I received so much positive feedback from people because it was a complete surprise and it was free!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Sytinenia and create earrings/accessories that provide that pop of color that your outfit needs. When I was in college at Florida A and M University, I saw how diverse people dressed on campus and fully expressed themselves through their accessories/clothing. I’ve always had a love for crocheting and wanted to expand that love into a business. I started creating a few designs for family and friends at first. That quickly evolved into a brand that people grew to expect something unique and fully handmade. I love going to markets and getting that “Wow” face from people when they realize that all my earrings are handmade using various crochet techniques. I’ve recently found a love for crystals and even have incorporated a few crystals into my newer designs.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Well earlier this year, I received the “Stop and Decease” letter from a company. Of course I had to stop using my business name completely which was disheartening. I was given the information of a very good lawyer and was told that “Yes you can’t use your name.” After some tears, I begin removing my business name from sites and telling people that I have to stop doing business. My lawyer told me not to give up and just change my business name. I was frustrated and nervous because that meant basically starting from starch. But after much thought about the issue, I decided to do it. We went to work in finding a new business name for me. Sysaic Knotz was born from that and I’ve been pushing through ever sense. My new business name works and I have actually grown quicker this time because I’ve implemented skills that I’ve learned over the years. I can’t quit and I wont quit. I love creating!

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I have to say that the most effective strategy that I’ve used to grow clientele is putting myself out there more. I didn’t think people wanted to see the creator, just see the goods but in fact that is very wrong! People love seeing the person behind the scenes that creates and packages their order. I like to see the ups and downs. It makes your brand feel more “real” and people love that! I’ve found that putting more pictures out and videos, I’ve gotten a very good response from my clientele.
