We were lucky to catch up with syncere recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi syncere, thanks for joining us today. One of the toughest things about progressing in your creative career is that there are almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
So biggest issue I’ve ever had that had an impact on my career was losing my grandmother nd cousin within months from eachother the world was going great for me I was making great music had just graduated high and my plans for after I got out had changed drastically when a month later my granny had a stroke nd was Ina hospital for a month before she passed I felt like I had everything going good my music connects to my opportunities But after losing her it felt like I shut down I was suppose to be moving in with my grandmother after graduation but right before I could she went into the hospital at this time I lived in Texas but when my grandmother had the stroke I stayed by her side in the hospital for the while she was in there unconscious and I ended up moving back to my hometown in louisiana but not the way I had wanted to my career went downhill cause I just wasn’t creating I had the world against me and once I tried to step back in after her passing my cousin was killed so it had me in a chokehold I went a while without creating music and I was feeling down but I eventually was able to get everything moving again and I lost some close friends and family along the way but it didn’t stop me anymore I made the goal to get back doing what I love and not letting anyone or anything stopped me I got so much praise and encouragement for doing what I was doin from my cousin and my grandmother so it was no way they would want me to stop I kept pushing and now I’m back on the go and have been releasing nusic again It took me some time to get my rhythm back but I feel I’ve gotten my rhythm back in motion and I would like to shout out to sloane for putting me on her ” looking for our love ” record that was a big help to put me in stride and I have released 2 projects this year and I am about to drop another one in July I’ve been going through it still but I just keep in mind that I’m farther then where I started its closer to keep running forward then to start back and try anything else that’s just not me ! I’ve always been the misunderstood and slept on one but its my turn to step up and be the person / artist I know I can be !
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started making music in my closet when I was around 14 or 15 and I started to love music my uncle ” like o productions ” aka ” 318lilone ” Had always made music while I was growing up and can’t lie it encouraged me and I grew up inspired by chris brown so he has a big impact on my music and I start releasing music on SoundCloud and started building a base that supported me I had a few songs do numbers on social media and platforms and that’s when I knew this was what I was meant to do ! My genre is mainly r&b and I songwrite but I also dive into other genres like rap ,pop and a lil twist to rock I get into I call it rock & b and you can look forward to me dropping more of it but for me it’s not about the genres it’s all about what the music feels like I built a base from making a lot of heartbreak music and that’s what my fans seem to like the most from me but I have a little bit of everything when I make an album my goal is to make an album that everyone can find something they like rather they are rap fans r&b fans to the pop fans who like industry sounding music. I feel like my image sets me apart from everyone cause im not just the person you’d think of as just in the lane of a singer I feel like my image holds so much meaning to where my music can translate to people who are feeling that heartbreak or need that good feeling in there life and I bring problems that a lot of artist today won’t talk about nor put in there songs I have my own wave that I ride and I don’t want to follow what’s popular I just want to make what I feel is right for me and my base I never wanted to fit in because I’ve always been different and that’s what separates me from a lot of other artists
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to become an artist that lives strictly off of music so I can live my dream and be one of the best artists this generation has seen i want to be able to tour and show the world that even slept on you can be who you want to be I want to live the life I want to live and not go down a plain road and settle for the average life I want to see the world and take care of the ones that have always cared for me I want to show light to the ones who are around me who work so hard on there dreams just like me I want to create something that has never been done before
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the stress relief it let’s you throw your problems and emotions down all out in your own way and when your a closed off misunderstood person like I am it let’s you let go and be free and I would advice anyone who creates to let go ! Don’t be scared to go with your first thoughts and don’t let anyone have a negative impact on you or your music ! Do you !
