Alright, Synamon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
In the hair care industry, there’s a notable gap between small business owners who create their own product formulas(artisan crafted), and those who use pre-existing formulas (someone else’s), emphasizing the importance of my hands-on approach.
No concerns with making your own product from scratch… The issue at hand is that small business owners distributors may not be cognizant of the raw materials used in their products. Thus, resulting in customer harm, as has been the case in the past.
The ability to balance time in the lab with business-related tasks is essential for scientists yet challenging at times. However the opportunity for me manufacturing my own products… I can concentrate on improving my skills and expanding my knowledge, leading to better research and product outcomes. The opportunity for them distributing their products is automation of inventory management and order fulfillment processes enables distributors to reallocate resources towards strategic growth initiatives, optimize operations, and enhance their focus on the business front end.
True story: A customer recently purchased hair care products from a small business owner who, despite specializing in styling, attested to the quality of the products she sold. Unfortunately, after consistent use, the customer experienced excessive hair shedding and loss, with the only variable being the use of the stylist’s products. The products were marketed as natural and vegan, but the small business owner may not have been fully aware of their ingredients. This discrepancy could have resulted in legal action, and I am now working with the customer to help with the process of regrowing their hair.

My business is family ran by my husband, daughter, son, & I. We been open for 3years now… we have our own small lab that was in our kitchen, but now in our back yard. Our products are available on Walmart.com, online, and at the Rainbows Blossom Farmers Market every other Sunday. Additionally, our products can be found in a local store and hair salon. I am exploring the establishment of a non-profit entity aimed at helping people feel and look their best, while also providing support and resources to help them navigate challenging situations and maintain hope and faith. Our commitment to giving back to our community includes donating hair care products during Breast Cancer Awareness Month each October to Norton’s Cancer Institute Women’s Cancer Center, strengthening our role as a community pillar. Considering our products are certified cruelty-free! As part of our commitment to safety and efficacy, we conduct free testing on ourself, family, friends, co workers, lastly our loyal customers who volunteer, before releasing new products. Our non-toxic, pH-balanced products have received great feedback, and we thank each and every one of our volunteers who tested our new product in the past.

As an introverted individual, I find interaction with people to be challenging, and I would describe myself as anti-social. Despite this, I have found success in attending events such as Pop-Up Shops, Farmers Markets, and Vending Events, where I have been able to overcome my anxiety and meet my set goals. My first Pop-Up Shop I hosted, which was held in my hometown, was a particularly enjoyable experience. The vendors were impressive, and the attendees were even more so. I was initially hesitant to host an event, but with the support of my team, we were able to make it a success.

At our first Pop Up shop we attended, we exceeded expected sales and gained our first loyal customer, who left us a positive review. The event proved to be a valuable business opportunity. Our business wasent even opened legally yet.
