We were lucky to catch up with Synah recently and have shared our conversation below.
SYNAH, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
One of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on has been the release of my EP, Ways to Feel. This EP represents much more than just music- it’s a reflection of my personal journey and emotional expression. It includes three songs: “Take It Back,” “Somethin Bout U,” and “No Rush,” which all explore different aspects of human connection, vulnerability, and confidence.
The journey to this release was not a straightforward one. I originally released some of these tracks as singles back in 2018, but after going through various changes in my life, I decided to revisit and remix and remaster them for this EP. The release coincided with a lot of internal growth for me as an artist. I’d been building my social media presence, expanding my music to include fashion content, and dealing with challenges like career transitions and personal emotions.
Ways to Feel also feels like a reclaiming of my artistic identity. After dealing with moments where I felt my creative ideas had been copied, I became more intentional about how I presented my work and the emotion I wanted to convey. This EP has became a turning point, where I fuse my music with visuals and release everything in a way that truly reflected who I am and what I give to my craft.
This project is meaningful because it represents perseverance, creativity, and the willingness to be vulnerable. Releasing this EP, with all the visuals and preparation behind it, was about not just sharing music but inviting people into my world of expression. It’s something I pour my heart and soul into, and that’s why it means so much to me.
SYNAH, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m SYNAH an indie artist, model and content creator who’s deeply passionate about creating genre blending music fused with fashion and visual storytelling. My journey into the industry started at 16 years old with a love for music, which naturally evolved as I began experimenting with how to merge it with other creative outlets. I create genres fluid music influenced by Pop and Rnb, but I also incorporate my fashion sense and visual art into my work, curating a unique experience for my audience that goes beyond sound.
Over time, I’ve built my brand around this fusion of music, fashion, and visual content. I’ve used social platforms to not only share my music but also to express my personal style and creativity. One of the most notable projects I’ve released is my EP Ways to Feel, which is a cohesive experience that expresses emotion and mood through sound, visuals, and style.
What sets me apart from others is my ability to combine multiple creative disciplines into one experience. As an artist, I don’t just focus on the music; I think about the whole package—the aesthetics, the visuals, and the emotions I want to convey. my goal is always to give my audience ways to connect with my work on a deeper level, and I’ve found that it resonates with people who appreciate art that speaks to both the ear and the eye and the heart.
I’m most proud of how I’ve been able to stay authentic and true to my vision while growing as an artist. Navigating the indie industry comes with its challenges, but I’ve maintained a strong sense of self, even when faced with trends or others copying my style. I want my followers and fans to know that everything I create is a genuine expression of who I am—whether it’s music, fashion content, or visual art. My goal is to provide a unique and immersive experience that allows people to feel something real
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
In my view, society can best support artists and creatives by providing more accessible platforms for indie artists, sharing and supporting artists work, purchasing merch is a big part of revenue for artists. It’s something I make sure to do in support of creators. Funding opportunities for artists of all ages particularly for indie artists who don’t have the backing of major labels or large networks.
Being an independent artist means navigating both the creative and business sides of things, and sometimes, the tools needed to make that sustainable aren’t readily available. For the indie artist working a 9-5 it takes twice as long to complete creative projects. the access to resources and funding is a large factor in success as an artist so it’s important to show support for artists on this journey.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the ability to connect with people on a deep, emotional level. There’s something incredibly powerful about creating music or art that resonates with someone’s personal experience whether it helps them process their own emotions or simply feel understood. I love knowing that my work can be a part of someone’s life, whether it’s giving them a sense of peace, energy, or even inspiration to create something of their own.
As a creative, I also find great fulfillment in the freedom to express myself authentically. Every project, whether it’s music, fashion, or visual art, allows me to explore different facets of my personality and experiences. Being able to share that with an audience and seeing how it impacts them is truly rewarding. It’s this exchange offering something from the heart and having it be embraced by others—that keeps me passionate about what I do.
