My journey began in Europe, where I honed my skills in learning and development, eventually leading a management academy and innovation hub, and coordinating group-wide human resources activities for Europe’s largest tourism and retail group.
Today, in my keynotes, I address a critical challenge faced by professionals in today’s fast-paced and competitive environment: the art of making a lasting impression. My focus is on empowering individuals and organizations to shift from operating on autopilot to making intentional choices in their daily professional activities. This transition from unconscious, habitual actions to conscious, deliberate decision-making is at the heart of my philosophy, “The Power of Choice.”
By embracing this approach, professionals can transform how they present themselves, interact with others, and ultimately, how they are perceived in the business world. Based on my framework, I delve deeply into the nuances of appearance, behavior, communication, and digital footprint and environment, providing practical strategies that enhance professional success. Austrian by birth, French in my heart, Italian in my kitchen, and German in my work ethic, I am American by choice. I am most proud of my decision to pursue my lifelong dream. Despite a successful corporate career, pretty much “overnight” I embarked on a new journey, boarding a plane with a newborn on my lap, moving to the country I always wanted to call home.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the most pivotal lessons I had to unlearn during my corporate career was the belief that hard work alone is sufficient for career advancement and recognition. In the early stages of my journey, I epitomized the ‘busy bee’ archetype. My desk was the hub where tasks converged; I was the first to arrive and the last to leave the office. Colleagues relied on me for my relentless work ethic, and I prided myself on being the go-to person for getting things done.
However, this approach had its limitations. I learned that hard work, while essential, does not automatically translate into visibility or recognition in the way one might expect or desire. It’s not just about the hours you put in or the volume of work you complete. The key is how you position yourself, how you showcase your unique values, skills, talents, and expertise.
I realized that hoping to be discovered or recognized solely based on hard work is a passive strategy. It’s crucial to ensure that your name is mentioned in rooms you’re not in, at the right moments, and for the right opportunities. This requires active positioning on your part. It’s about making sure that your contributions are not just seen but are also associated with your unique professional identity and value proposition.
This lesson was transformative. It shifted my focus from merely being industrious to being strategically visible. It’s about understanding that your career trajectory is not just shaped by what you do, but also by how you communicate your value and ensure that your efforts are aligned with your personal brand and professional goals. This understanding has been a cornerstone in my journey from a corporate professional to a keynote speaker and thought leader, where I now empower others to make intentional choices about how they present and position themselves in their professional lives.
