We recently connected with Sylvia Salazar and have shared our conversation below.
Sylvia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?
As a real estate agent. asking friends and family to support my business can be a delicate balance. I would like for them to support in any way possible. whether that be sharing my social media posts, using me as a resource, or passing my contact details along to someone they know in need of real estate assistance.
However, I would never want others to feel pressured to work with me. Finding a realtor that fits your needs is very important. As I service Des Moines, Iowa I am always available to chat if you have questions. If you’re moving to any state, I would be more than happy to connect you with fellow realtors in that area.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
After graduating from the University of Iowa in 2021 with a business degree, I ventured off to the East Coast where I first received my real estate license. Since then, I have relocated back to the Midwest bringing with me comprehensive knowledge of both markets to deliver unparalleled value to my clients.
I am community driven, which means I’m not just helping you sell or buy a home but rather integrating you into wonderful communities that provide you with everything you’re looking for. I prioritize building strong relationships with my clients and am a local guide to all the fun events your city has to offer.
To potential clients and followers, I am dedicated to delivering exceptional care in buying, selling, or investing. I strive to make the process easy, stress-free, and most importantly a fun experience! It’s an exciting time whenever someone reaches out and wants to get into real estate. So, allow me to help you in achieving this.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
For anyone interested in possibly getting their real estate license, funding this business requires saving a lot of money to be able to operate efficiently. To be transparent, there’s a lot of costs associated with getting your license along with keeping up with it. I would recommend sitting down and talking with someone who is licensed to get a better idea and to see if it’s a passion you’d like to pursue.
If it is, I would recommend meeting with a finacial advisor to meet your goals and ultimately expand your business. Real estate is all commission based, so it may take a while before you receive your first paycheck. I know of many agents who work part-time jobs to support themselves while their career is taking off.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building an online presence requires a strategic approach and consistent effort. There are several steps to consider when building your social platform. One, being identify your target audience. Two, creating valuable content to educate and entertain. Three, be consistent!! Don’t be afraid to be yourself, and staying visible is the key to building trust with your audience. Four, network and collaborate with others in your area! Build a good relationship with other professionals and community groups.
In doing this, I’ve been able to grow my social media platforms. Also, don’t forget to have fun. You want to encourage engagement, while keeping you top of mind by providing excellent customer service.
