We recently connected with Sylvia Kelsey and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sylvia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
My entire adult life has been a series of thoughts turned in to reality. I never really pondered the idea of fear or even for once backed down from something I wanted to do. When I was faced with challenges in my marriage and I had to make a decision to stay or leave, I choose to leave because I knew there was better awaiting me if I dared to risk starting over new. The journey after marriage was long, but with each step forward life got easier, and things felt better. Doors began to open to new adventures and those doors led me to finding the person I am today. The journey through feeling rejected and being in emotional pain, has helped me to become a bigger risk taker which led me to write my new book, Ask Abundantly – Daily tips to help you live the life you desire. While going through those feeling of rejection, I studied how to change my mindset, and how to be more grounded emotionally and to be more self-aware. I wanted to take responsibility for any part I had in the demise of my marriage without placing blame on any one person. That meant working on me and my mindset, and understanding that the things that seem bad, really are not. Challanges come to wake you up and move you into a new season of life. To help you on your personal mission. I no longer allowed other people’s actions and energy to affect me. I chose not to become a victim.
My book is a series of positive and thought-provoking quotes and statements’ that help you remember to be mindful of what you say not to others but to yourself. When we read daily and cultivate a mind of positive self-talk, life begins to open up a entire no energy field, filled with love, peace and joy. Leaving my marriage, moving to another state, was a bit scary, but I had hope. I envisioned a new beginning, and I wanted to risk building a new life, one that challenged me to better. I stepped into an entirely new place and trusted the process and I am so grateful for it. Today I am a published author, and entrepreneur living a life of freedom. I am free from self-doubt, free from negative self-talk, and my heart and mind are filled with love and purpose to help others become free.
Sylvia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was born the youngest of five. But I often feel like an only child. My parents had their hands full with my other siblings. which left me to spend a lot of time being alone. I believe this time alone led me to become a quiet, yet creative individual with many talents. I consider myself a creative. I am a cosmetologist and I have worked in many arenas in the area of hair and makeup, to image consulting, tv producing, voice over acting and more. A born leader I am a servant first, I believe in using my gifts and talents to help others realize their own gifts and talents. I am very proud of adding author to my list of accomplishments. My book is another way to help others tap into their own potential and become a better version of themselves. Based on the idea that if you ask it is given, my book will help many people learn how to ask, and understand that it is okay to ask, and that the universe is waiting for you to ask, and it wants you to ask over and above anything thing you could ever imagine. We are all living with purpose inside of us. Some of us just need to understand how to tap into their purpose and start living a life of abundance. Because abundance is available to us all.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I have found that the most effective strategy for growing a clientele is to put yourself in their shoes and see things from their perspective and solve whatever problem someone might have. Being a good listener, without judgement is always a good start.
And leaving a first good impression is key.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Because I am my brand, I stay true to who I am as a person, a business and what I offer. Honesty and integrity are the pillar of my character. I stay loyal to my mission of being purposeful. I want to be a person that inspires others, and influences others to be better than they were before. When we purposefully intend to be a positive impact, opportunities will come that help you bless others. People navigate towards a consistent story that they can relate to.
