We were lucky to catch up with Syeda recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Syeda, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Most people think success is not having any struggles or rejections. I think it takes both to become successful. That is how you grow. It’s about how many times you can get back up.
Syeda, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My internship in college got me started and the years have flown by so quickly. I’m just incredibly proud of what I get to do and the stories I get to tell. It’s a huge passion of mine and I do it everyday. Currently I’m a morning news anchor at the NBC affiliate in Tucson, Arizona.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Absolutely. I have faced a lot of rejections. But after each no I would pick myself up and try again. There were times I really wanted to give up. There where times I felt like I no longer had the courage to move forward, but somehow I kept going. I think the only time you truly lose is when you give up. So I always remember that and that keeps me going.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I wanted to tell people’s story, no matter who it is. Everyone deserves to be heard.
