We recently connected with Sydney Turner and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sydney, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Ready 2 Transition LLC was birthed in the middle of the pandemic in 2019. Prior to the pandemic there was an urgency to educated young children due to the fact they were not receiving all the fundamental foundation of the core of education to transition successfully to kindergarten, Months and months passed as I would go sit at my Pastor’s desk to bounce ideas off of her to see how I could structure the program. When the Covid-19 pandemic approached and everything switch virtually the educational world turned upside down. In that moment, I knew I had to do something to calm the storm.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Sydney Turner and I am a mother of three handsome boys ages 13,10 and 5 years old. I am also a minister of the gospel who enjoys worshipping with flags as I call banners. I enjoy drinking coffee for breakfast and eating Chick-Fil-A for lunch. I have been in the education field since 2010 working with school-age children as a classroom aide. Being able to provide educational support to children has been so rewarding in many ways. Working with children who have been diagnosed with being developmentally delayed has became a greater passion since the pandemic. Children learn four different ways and when you you start to interchange them it becomes more challenging to learn. My goal as an educator is to help children and parents identify the methods and styles they learn best in.
One of my favorite services I provide is Family Enrichment Engagement events. These events allows parents to engage with their learners to observe and interact with them. Parents often become frustrated in the teaching process because they do not understand. These workshops allow the parents to enter in a level to understand their child’s learning process as educational professional walks family through the learning curves.
When I did my research of the surrounding competitors I was shocked by the fact they would charge more for children who had individual educational plans(IEP) . I also was met with the fact that parents did not understand the thick packets that were given after their children received an IEP. Our staff began to sit in IEP meetings with our families and translate what was written in the language a parent would understand. We call this “parent talk”.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Consistency, consistency and consistency. Knowing your target audience will always matter. Just because you have a similar business( no two businesses are the same!) does not mean you have the same audience. Comedy may be how you obtain your audience or Q&A segments. Who is your target is always good to know to help you grow.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Word of mouth has been the way. I have spent tons of money on marketing which is still necessary however, 8/10 of my clientele comes from word of mouth. In the 2.5 years I have been in business I have only received one client from looking at reviews. Its important to push reviews but its always good to build relationships because they are where you will get your bucks.
