Hi Sydney, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My entrepreneurial journey began in 2022. I was introduced to digital marketing through a mentorship program at my university. I worked with my mentor to maintain social media accounts for a small management software business. At first, I expected it to be simple as I was tasked to create content. However, there was no growth and I lacked experience in brand awareness and account engagement. It slowly became tedious. I took a break from digital marketing to focus on my school and career pursuit. A couple years later, I decided that I want to pursue a degree in communications. As I learnt new techniques within my communication classes, I decided to take digital marketing seriously. In 2024, Hello Kollective Media was born with aspirations of helping small businesses to find their voice. Hello Kollective Media amplifies businesses through platforms on social media.
Additionally, I recently launched a passions project titled “Tadhana Toys,” a community organization that brings smiles to sick children in hospitals, low-income families, and newly-arrived families in Canada by providing toys, books, and games. I’m very lucky to see me nieces and nephews experience the joy of gift-giving, so I want to share that same joy and hope to children in undeserved circumstances. The name Tadhana means “destiny” or “fate” in Tagalog and I believe that children are destined for greatness in the future. It is our job to nurture, provide, and support children for a better and brighter future.
As a business owner and entrepreneur I am proud to say that I am thriving in my small business! I am thankful for the connections and work experience that pushed me to reach my current position.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road was rocky but up-trending! I struggled with pursuing a degree that I wanted. Initially, I was in the works of attaining a Bachelors in Business Administration. Within a year, I realized it wasn’t for me. Instead I changed my path to communications as my mentor was a communications graduate. Since then, I was so grateful to have made that change! I am pursuing something I’m passionate about and use skills applicable to my business!
