We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sydney Parker. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sydney below.
Sydney , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’ve always loved fashion ever since I was a young girl and the idea of starting a business happened in college. I thought about combining the two when I would visit boutiques for fashion course assignments. At that time, I noticed a bunch of celebrities doing the same thing but I wondered how could I do it better. So eventually I found my niche. I set out to cater to shorter/petite women because i’m 5’1′ and know how difficult it is to find my jean or pants size. I knew this would be a good niche to pursue because the petite market now is catered to older women and the clothing is not trendy or fashionable.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hi I’m miss fashionista, Sydney Parker. I loveee fashion, so much so, that I own a boutique catered to shorter/petite women called Imperfectly Divine Boutique; which launched in May of 2022. Our operations are located in Saint Louis, MO. For now, we are only located online at www.imperfectlydivine.com with the hope of opening a brick and mortar in the future. Our mission is To Empower Women to Have Confidence and High Self-Esteem.
Our goal is to provide stylish, trendy, casual clothing that is affordable. We want every women to embrace our brand and have an impact in their lives. Impact the client how? By being the first outfit worn on her first date with her future husband. If you’re having a bad day, we want our clothes to make you feel good, make you feel pretty. Every women is beautiful; we just want our clothes to add to that inner and outer beauty.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience on social media my following, sharing, and liking other creatives, artist, business owners, and my target market. I most am connected with other like minded small business owners. I meet other entrepreneurs at fashion meetings and pop-up events; while there I ask for the socials and business cards.
Advice I have for those just starting to build a social media presence: Likes don’t mean nothing, don’t focus on the number of like you get, and to stay consistent so people can remember you when they are in need of you. If they see your brand pop up often on their feed or story feed, then they’ll remember to go to you.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has been working the local pop-ups in Saint Louis, Missouri. Its good for the customers to put a face to the brand and feel the clothes and for me to speak to them about what they like and don’t like about my products.
