We recently connected with Sydney Noelle and have shared our conversation below.
Sydney , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
One of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken? Quitting my full-time job as a middle school dance instructor last spring to work for myself as a yoga/meditation instructor. I turned my passion for yoga and movement wellness into an LLC in December and have been working for myself ever since. The journey has definitely not been easy – I had to have a hip labrum reconstruction surgery in May. It was completely unexpected – needless to say I took a hit financially given that I need my body to do my job. This was one of the hardest things I’ve ever been through and there were many times I felt discouraged.
But I am so happy that I stuck with it because I recently signed with Nike as the newest holistic fitness instructor for their Nike Well Collective here in NYC. I wrote this affirmation down in my journal last summer, and it’s been amazing to see it come to fruition. This is not a full time position, as I am still an entrepreneur, but this sponsorship will help tremendously and truly is a testament to staying the course, betting on yourself, and taking a risk!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have been a dancer since I was three years old. I danced all through grade school, high school, and received my BA in Dance and Performance Studies from the University of Maryland.
Movement is my deepest passion and so directly aligned with all areas of my life. Dance was my segue into yoga. My work & offerings are all about helping people find greater awareness and connection within their body. So many of us suffer from injuries, ailments, and constant disassociation. My offerings are rooted in practices that bring a more holistic approach to these things, and help clients have a deeper understanding of their body’s.
I am most proud of creating a community where people, especially women, can feel safe to be their most authentic selves from the inside out!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
One of the most rewarding aspects of being an artist/creative/entrepreneur is receiving messages from various people sharing how much your offerings have impacted their life. I think teaching is such a gift that I truly pride myself on, so to know that I have deeply impacted someone’s life for the better means the world to me. I wholeheartedly believe this is my life’s mission, and I am elated & blessed to be living this life!

How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience through a few ways:
– using tiktok to help me gather followers on IG (18k on Tiktok)
– creating reels for various yoga collectives I teach with and being added as a collaborator. This gave me a lot of publicity I might have otherwise not have gotten
– Going live on IG to talk about my offerings – people gravitate towards authenticity and what makes you, YOU!
– Putting myself out there/networking at social events. Handing out my business cards, etc.
Advice:
– You have to be willing to take a risk and be vulnerable. The more you show yourself authentically on social media, the more you attract like-minded folks into your orbit. Yes, it can be scary but that’s also the beauty in it..lean in :)
– Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to post..remember, quality > quantity. Post when it feels RIGHT to you, because I can guarantee you the work will be more authentic then
– Have fun with it and the right opportunities will come your way! I just got signed with Nike and it happened organically and just from me being me + my work speaking for itself.
