We were lucky to catch up with Sydney Alleyne recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sydney, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made?
The best decision I made as a business owner was investing in myself. This meant choosing to work with a business coach and joining a networking community, both of which have been invaluable to my growth. Surrounding yourself with successful, like-minded people is critical for any entrepreneur, as it opens up new perspectives, offers support, and provides invaluable guidance. Initially, I thought I could handle everything on my own, but I quickly realized that wasn’t realistic. Investing in yourself is the smartest move you can make, as it not only accelerates your growth but also ensures you’re not alone on your entrepreneurial journey.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m the founder of the Digital Marketing Discipleship Movement, which encompasses Pertinent Media Group and Let Go, Let God Apparel. I’m dedicated to glorifying God by leveraging digital marketing.
I have nearly a decade of experience in digital marketing, working in various industries — specializing in social media management, email marketing, and paid advertising. In 2021, I started entrepreneurship with my marketing agency, Pertinent Media Group. My clients have hired me because of my ability to eliminate wasted time when creating and executing digital marketing strategies.
In November 2022, I fully surrendered my life to God. He eventually led me to create my apparel company, Let Go, Let God in May 2023. God wasn’t finished yet — in January 2024, the Digital Marketing Discipleship Movement was born. This movement equips Christian entrepreneurs and faith-based organizations to effectively communicate and glorify God in an online landscape. It will connect like-minded individuals who are eager to grow their digital marketing skills and serve God.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Building strong relationships with current clients is key to expanding your clientele. When you invest in nurturing these relationships, you create satisfied clients who are more likely to become repeat customers and refer others to your business. Happy clients are your best ambassadors; their positive experiences and word-of-mouth recommendations can significantly increase your reach and attract new customers, helping your business grow organically.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I had to make a crucial pivot in my digital marketing agency by niching down. Initially, I offered everything under the digital marketing umbrella, thinking that a broad approach would attract more clients. However, I quickly realized that trying to do it all was leading to burnout, especially without a team to help manage the workload. By deciding to narrow my focus, I was able to concentrate on the areas of digital marketing I truly enjoyed and excelled in. This pivot not only allowed me to preserve my energy and passion but also helped me to grow my agency more effectively by delivering specialized, high-quality services to my clients.
