We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sydnei Hughes . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sydnei below.
Sydnei, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
The defining moment in my career where I knew I specifically wanted to help women was with my third child. Since my second daughter was born I became a yoga instructor teaching vinyasa. After 2 1/2years of teaching I became pregnant with my third. During this pregnancy I went along my birth doula training while pregnant and realized how sterilizing birth has become. With my first two I felt I had no autonomy in the hospitals and knew this go round would be different. With Yoga and breathework I feel my pregnancy was optimal! I felt good, really good and I knew I had to help other mothers find pleasure in pregnancy and birth. I went into my training and furthered my education on prenatal and postnatal yoga. I am now in training to become an orgasmic birth practitioner and lactation consultant to help birth become more “pleasurable” and to take the stigma of “pain” out of it. I’ve been breast feeding for 8 years since my first was born and I feel that for mothers who are looking to have a breastfeeding journey, should have the support we all deserve.

Sydnei, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Sydnei Hughes. I am a yoga teacher- Birth Doula and soon to be lactation consultant. I am also an Orgasmic Birth Practitioner in training. My goal is to open the eyes of mother/partner/family and let them know we can find pleasure in it all. In pregnancy, birth, and after. I also make body products for mamas to feel decadent, sensual and sexy. Soon baby products will also be available. Since my last interview I have really narrowed my scope into helping more women from maiden hood to motherhood and beyond. I found yoga in a really depressing time for me. After my second child was born, I felt as if there was this dark cloud following me everywhere I went. I needed a change. For me and especially my children. And luckily I received a scholarship for a yoga teacher training. I had no intent on teaching, but the way this new lifestyle has helped me. The breathe work, movement the renewed self love and compassion. I just knew I had to share this with others. I also offer other modalities like energy healings. My last client had me in tears, she let me know how renewed she felt after our yoga/reiki session. She said it showed her a new way of going about her life. We spoke for about 15 mins after our session and she was able to release a lot of things that she didn’t even realize she was holding onto. And that right there is one of the reasons I do what I do.

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
I most definitely would. Mothers make this world go round. None of would be here with MOTHER. My goal is to help women realize the tools they have to really live a more pleasurable and orgasmic life. She’s worth it!
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn that I wasn’t good enough. Or that no one would care what I had to say. I grew up the black sheep of the family. I was always “to sensitive” or called emotional to emotionless. So I often disassociated. I wasn’t connected to my body, I didn’t feel good about myself despite what my friends thought. I was happy go lucky on the outside but I was an insecure mess on the inside and that often came out as anger. I learned to do deep shadow work. With yoga and movement really helped me unlearn those patterns and really love myself. And now, you can’t tell me anything. I am Amazing, lovable and worth it in every way.
