Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sydnee. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Sydnee thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Being an 18-year-old nonprofit director, there are so many risks. In any business you have to believe in yourself and fight for what you believe in, but being so young in the business industry is challenging. I am constantly trying to find people who will support me, my mission, and the heart of my organization. We work hard to provide for those who are experiencing homelessness. We provide toiletries, school supplies, clothing, winter items, gift cards, snack bags, and more to our friends. After 5 years we have been more successful than I ever expected! I am forever grateful for the support that has been given to us over the years!
For our 5-year anniversary, we decided we wanted to do our largest project yet! After months of fundraising, applying for grants, working with local businesses, and rallying our supporters we will were able to pack over 2,000 bags (toiletry and snack) that totaled to almost 25,000 items packed! June 15th was a big day for us, and we wanted to continue making a difference and celebrate our birthday! Although this went as perfect as it could have, it was very challenging leading up to the event. We were not sure we would be able to have the volunteers, funds, or items to put on this event. But I trusted my gut and made the decision and went all in.
Because of that decision, so many people will be helped! I am forever thankful to everyone who showed up and worked with us to make this happen!
Sydnee, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
From the age of 4, Sydnee’s passion for helping others has only grown. From helping her mom take care packages to young children for Christmas to donating her clothes for her friends. Sydnee’s passion was sparked at a young age. Now at 18 years-old, she has only continued her passion of helping others and making a difference in her community. From being featured by Country Superstar, Dierks Bentley, in his music video Woman Amen and seeing hands-on the need in her community, Sydnee started Jumbled Dreams-Changing Lives at 13 years-old to inspire others to make a change in their community by finding their passions through various volunteer opportunities. Since beginning Jumbled Dreams in 2018, Sydnee has raised over 107,300 pounds of food, 79,000 toiletries, over 122,000 articles of clothing, 10,000 school supplies, and 20,000 dollars to help her community. She has also partnered with over 30 organizations across the world to spread the mission of Jumbled Dreams. In the past 2 years alone, Sydnee has had the opportunity to start an Anti-bullying and Suicide Awareness Podcast called Positive Dreams Project, in partnership with Positive Change Project, in order to spread awareness about key issues like bullying, suicide, and mental health. She has also a second podcast called Let’s Talk Dreams with the goal of sharing different nonprofit/individual inspiring stories throughout the world. Through all of this, Sydnee is blessed every single day to be apart of a change much larger than her.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When it rains it pours.
The past year of my life is something that I hope most of you never have to go through. Two car wrecks, cancer, numerous hospital visits for different family members, graduating high school, starting college, heartbreak, loss of family friends, and as of a couple of weeks ago a broken leg. All of this bad, all of this hardship, how do you have the courage and strength to keep going?
The honest truth? I do not.
I have never been more broken than in the past year. I have cried more tears than I ever thought would have been possible. I felt like I was losing myself. I did not know who I was anymore. Pushing through day by day and hour by hour seemed impossible a lot of the times. I even stepped away from Jumbled Dreams. I did not know if there was a light at the end of the tunnel. But there is.
Life is an endless roller coaster. I have been so fortunate to have an amazing community and support system behind me for my whole life. Those people who are constantly in your corner. The ones who make you smile, the ones who make you laugh, the ones who check on you when you are feeling down. That is how I am getting through it. Those people continue to show me it is okay to not be okay, it is okay to be vulnerable, and it is okay to have boundaries. Life is messy, life is imperfect, but never in life should you feel alone.
As I am relaunching Jumbled Dreams, our projects, our hope, and our love. I hope you know that Jumbled Dreams is a safe place to be vulnerable, love hard, and to not be okay if you are not. The only way we will build a strong community is by being honest, loving, and hopeful together.
Jumbled Dreams is ALWAYS here to support and help you. Please reach out if you need a friend, support, or have any ideas!
Love hard JD Family!

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What helped build our reputation is being who we are! My family, the volunteers, and myself all pride ourselves on staying true to who we are when we are volunteering, representing our community, or at events. It is so important to be yourself and chase your dreams. So often people put on a “mask” to hide their true selves in order to please others, but that is not us. We believe in the power of making a difference in the community and making a difference within ourselves.
