We were lucky to catch up with Swove Domas recently and have shared our conversation below.
Swove, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
If I could go back in time and start my career earlier as an artist I definitely would. The way I work and from my upbringing and growth as a person/man/artist… there’s no telling where I would be at this very moment; if I would’ve went ahead and chased my dreams when I was initially thinking about it in my late teenage years. By now… the progression, the talent, and the artistry would be so much more enhanced and developed because of the time heavily focused in my craft paired with my strong work ethic and experience gained. So instead of waiting to chase my dreams I wish I would’ve went ahead and pursued them all. That is the number one reason why I am not wasting anymore time making a name for myself musically but in all possible positive endeavors that I can. October 2020 was my month of realization that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. And since then I have been into my music full fledged. Not only, am I chasing my dreams and happy with my decision to do so… but I also want everybody else to chase their dreams as well. That is why I encourage everyone I can to not wait or second guess their passion but to embrace it because in life the truest regret is to have never tried at anything at all because mistakes are stepping stones to success. You don’t want to look back and ask yourself the question of “what if?”.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Well.. I’m Swove. Swove Domas that is. I am a Houston, based Hip Hop artist who was birth straight out the ‘Sip. I love to keep it smooth while working as hard as I can to dominate anything I touch or do. This is my first year in the industry and definitely will not be my last! I have plenty of more to come as I am just planting the roots of what I am doing and preparing to reap a great harvest for not only myself but my people as well. Family First The Motto. My music is an expression of me as a person who just loves to live life and enjoy the moment so I want to make sure that my fans can feel that every time they turn me on. I want my listeners to feel the energy and the vibe of a time at whatever place and location they are that makes them just want to just live life on the highest of levels and have experiences that they never ever have had before. Along with not only being a artist I am also an aspiring model, actor, and business owner of a more than a few endeavors that you will see rolling out in the next year or so. I not only want to be known for music but as a business man and someone that has a positive influence in the world that we all take up residence in.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is just being able to influence people and give them an outlet that most people don’t either have or access to. A lot of people are facing everyday struggles so what my music does for them is allow them to get away and just get in a mood to where you can forget about those negative things/moments/issues that are currently happening in your life. Music is therapeutic in a lot of ways that aren’t really recognized as much as they should be… so I love that I can give my fans a way to be able to embrace the fun side of life while giving free game to not worry so much but just live in the moment and make the best out of it. That’s life in a nutshell.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
One thing I would say that non-creatives may struggle to understand when it comes to being an artist in any form or fashion is mostly the lifestyle. It is very hard and challenging to be an artist whether you’re a painter, musician, dancer or anything else along those lines because in order to be successful and strive in this journey you really have to eat, sleep, and breath the art. It is something that you have to feel and become one with because there will be days where you feel like giving up and there will be days where you feel like you’re on top of the world. One of the greatest thing about being a creative is the absolute freedom of expression that you have in numerous amount of ways to express yourself… not all May get it or you but they still gave you and your art a chance … and that’s priceless. Some people will approve of you work and others will not approve of the things you birth as an creative… but that is all apart of who you are and your journey as an artist. Being a creative isn’t a occupation, It is a lifestyle.
