We were lucky to catch up with Switch Art Gallery recently and have shared our conversation below.
Switch Art , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Meaningful projects.
2 years ago we started the idea to create a home gallery. The challenge was to do it by coincidence to the beginning of a global pandemic. but you have to go through fears.
So, the home gallery opened with a few friends, a photographer, and family.
Then the challenges of setting up our platform, to determining how to share online portfolios with artists whose philosophy we find interesting and attractive
Little by little started the post for Instagram, the hashtag. it was a challenge to learn and understand the social network language. It is being assembled little by little and is permanently under construction.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Our gallery, named Switch Gallery, features Latin artists working mainly in an abstract manner although a few of them dip into figuration. Our goal is to offer works that are both beautiful and contemplative which can be shown in a variety of settings—in the home, at work, and/or in public places. Our artists hail from locations as diverse as Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela and many of them have been trained at outstanding academic institutions located throughout the world.
Salomon Khammi, who lives in Miami Shores, is a Colombia-born architect, who paints in encaustic.
Facundo Pechervsky is an acclaimed Argentinian photographer. He is currently based in Madrid; he works with the international media.
Jesus del Peso is an architect from Spain; we represent his painting and sculptures.
Patricio Gonzalez Bezanilla from Chile is known for his ironic interpretations of reality.
Ricky Crespo from Argentina brings us his ideas and shapes which have been informed by stories and literature.
Josafat Miranda from Mexico is known for his simplicity and imagined innocence.
Natalia Decillo is an experience where chaos and a strong balance coexsist
and always end up in each abstract shape.
Augusto Falopapas designs and creates murals for both domestic and office locations.
Cecilia Mortola incorporates nature into her abstractions.
Gustavo Matamoros, a Venezuelan-American composer, has been working in South Florida for four decades, exploring a wide variety of sounds which he manipulates for both his art and his music.
All our artists have a passion to enrich Miami’s cultural offerings and to add to the city’s diversity and inclusion efforts. Our artists are distinguished by their courage and tenacity as they pursue their dreams.
Switch Gallery is based in Miami where our initiative was born, but our influence and presence extends throughout the world.
