We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Svonnie Dalcourt a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Svonnie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
I started designing and decorating withing my church ministry. I was a little doubtful at first I could do it on my own. People kept telling me go for it but it was overwhelming. Once I finally did it God just took off with me. I am a stronger believer in God’s timing and I truly believe no matter when I started it would have been the same result. God’s plan is God’s plan.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My design business started off doing events within my church ministry. I have always had a weird sense of style. I love anything out the box and not normal. The second you are around me you will know instantly that EXTRA is my middle name. I live for extreme in every parts of my live. I drive my friends and family crazy. It has to be off the wall or I just can’t do it lol. I love being an Event Stylist but I am most proud of being a mom to my two handsome sons. They are my motivation. They constantly push me to go for any and every goal I set. They have watched me take my business from our living room to my own venue studio. Everything about me represents my brand. Elegance, no boundaries, inspirational and full of love.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Being you will get you the furtherest. We take tons of classes to learn social medial marketing. Which are beneficial. But no one can teach how to be yourself. Transparency with your audience keeps them on the journey.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Set your standard and stick to it. Don’t try to keep up with what everyone else is doing. And never stop learning and investing in your brand.
