We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Suzie Sandoval. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Susan below.
Suzie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Originally I desired work-life harmony and in the transition of leaving my corporate training career, I began to declutter my life as I empowered my clients to do the same. I was inspired to create a business that integrated life coaching and professional organizing as I saw the correlation between how well we could thrive in life based on the people, places, and things we surrounded ourselves with. I became a psychologist fascinated by human behavior and our relationships to clutter, messiness, chaos, and distractions.
13 – years into my business it has evolved tremendously. I learned early on in my business that the pain of the physical clutter my clients were stuck with was a result of mental and emotional (inner) clutter. This is where my creative and innovative talents arose. I began incorporating sound healing, meditation, and mindfulness practices to teach my clients how to tune into their inner peace and ZEN Power.
I’ve recently added Drum Circles to my services as a way to declutter mental and emotional clutter. When we feel good it makes it much easier to know that no longer serves us moving forward. Feeling good is different from looking good. I’m in the business to empower my clients with sustainable success practices so they can discover work-life harmony for themselves.
As my clients reclaim their home and office spaces and create environments they love, we dive deeper into healing intimacy, grief, trauma and addictions which tend to be the root causes of the self sabotaging patterns and cluttered spaces.
Susan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi I’m Suzie. I’m your modern-day Mary Poppins sprinkled with a dash of Marie Kondo Magic.
I used to work in the Corporate Real Estate world, was a Type A personality, a workaholic and eventually became burned out. I knew there was more to life than working to generate profits. I decided to take a leap of faith to create a life and business that focused on work-life harmony and holistic self-healing practices and have become a ZEN Meditation Healer and Holistic Professional Organizer.
Clutter is the challenge and ZEN is the remedy for sustainable success.
Clutter has taught me it IS one of the most effective triggers for catalyzing positive life transformation. It provides healing lessons and pathways to miraculous breakthroughs from the self-sabotaging patterns of insanity. Once the lessons are realized through mindful awareness the clutter becomes an effortless thing to let go of for good and will no longer cease to exist. I discovered that clutter is anything that blocks your flow in life and the joy in you. This is the essence of transformational healing and creating space for the new.
I specialize in working with Healers, Artists, Entrepreneurs, Parents, Teens, & Charitable Retirees.
My Mission is to empower my clients by creating a home, office, and sacred spaces to feel good, function, and flow in their everyday environments by integrating a minimalist lifestyle; think abundance. The heart of my mission is a belief that creating space for the new can be an inspiring, empowering, healing, and creative expression of who you truly are.
I’m a student and a teacher of my work so I’m able to relate to my clients with compassion, empowerment, and inspiration when they feel stuck, overwhelmed, and unsure where to start in reclaiming their spaces and their life.
I’m most proud when I witness the transformative healing and growth in my clients. When they let go of the people, place, and things that no longer serve them (which can be a very difficult process), when they take inspired actions in life despite their fears, and when they create space for the new that is outside their comfort zone, I get so excited because this is the heart of the growth and evolution. To discover hidden aspects of our authentic self is liberating. Had I not done the work myself I wouldn’t be able to guide my clients through very dark places into the light again. It brings a great sense of purpose empowering others through the pains, breakdowns, and traumas I’ve experienced in my life. It makes it all worth it.
“In every job that must be done, there is always an element of fun, When you find the fun the job is a snap to get done.” ~ Mary Poppins
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Meeting my clients where they are mentally, emotionally, and physically, rather than where I want them to be has been a game changer in providing a non-judgmental, compassionate space to support their organizing journeys. It can be frustrating to see new possibilities for clients when they are stuck in the clutter that blocks their vision.
I used to get down on myself because my clients weren’t progressing as quickly as I wanted them to. I soon learned sessions are to support their organizing goals and I was here to give them what they needed and what they didn’t know they needed in my commitment to excellence.
I have learned through many client sessions to spend more time listening and asking questions and teaching them to honor the wisdom that exists from within. Most clients know what to do they need me to keep them focused, provide structure, and supportive accountability.
My relationship with clients often begins witnessing them in their mess filled with shame, guilt, and extreme uncomfortableness as they let a stranger come in to access for improvements. Knowing this I take time to educate my clients on how the organizing process works and how I bring a fresh perspective to each space and project. I don’t see clutter the way my clients do yet I understand where they are coming from. I actually recommend to my clients not to clean up before I arrive because their spaces represent a lot about their life, challenges, and where I can empower them.
Throughout the years I’ve incorporated essential oils, tea ceremonies, tuning forks, and simple healing practices for teaching my clients how to calm their nervous systems so they can clear their clutter quickly and effectively. There aren’t currently any organizers that are integrating Professional Organizing and Sound Healing as a service so it makes me very unique in my offerings.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I”m currently pivoting big time in my business as I am offering a brand new healing service to assist with eradicating overwhelm, indecisiveness, and stuckness.
I’m beginning to facilitate Drum Circles. This is another innovative pivot for me as an entrepreneur who deeply cares about the sustainable success of my clients. I’ve realized that a lot of clutter that most clients want to avoid represents very deep grief or trauma. It’s not something you can tell a story about and receive clarity like most sentimental clutter. It is a deeply subconscious resistance that requires patience and creativity to be liberated from.
As I have been diving deeper into facilitating Sound Healing with singing bowls and cosmic chimes, I have been learning how unique instruments cultivate healing for releasing suppressed mental and emotional clutter such as anger, rage, resentment, bitterness, blame, and other negative emotions.
Drumming provides a way of feeling a sense of belonging and communicating with loved ones and strangers alike beyond words. This provides a whole new approach to creating space for the new while clearing out the negative energy that attracts and perpetuates clutter (such as shame, guilt, avoidance, overwhelm, fear).
When we feel inspired, uplifted and liberated we can experience radical decluttering!
