We recently connected with Suzi Abadjian and have shared our conversation below.
Suzi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Quality control is a challenge almost every entrepreneur has had to focus on when growing – any advice, stories or insight around how to best ensure quality is maintained as your business scales?
Here at Chita Beauty we have always been about quality. We believe that quality comes first. This mindset has always helped our passion for hair care grow in ways unimaginable. Being on the retail side of the industry for 8 years now we’ve faced a number of quality control questions. Starting with our ingredients to product packaging and even our shipping materials. Everything gets checked regularly and thoroughly. With the environment changing everyday, our hair care routine needs change as well. Placing these regulatory checkpoints have helped us really elevate our standards in hair care for which we pride in. Beside maintaining the quality we work hard everyday in improving in any way we can. Even the small details such as the functioning of a bottle cap and even making sure bottle seals are in place for a leak free delivery. Regularly using our own products personally has helped in determining necessary changes needed, but also really taking in the feedback of customers. We regularly interact with our customers through emails and social media, asking for feedback and suggestions. This is the best way for customers to love the products they buy and of course in turn they value our customers service. Customer service should never lack in the growth of any company, as well as the quality of a product. As revenue grows in Chita Beauty, we set goals to improve and update our hair care line. Thanks to this strategy we have been able to grow our business but also stay true to our mission.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a Hair Stylist, Make-Up Artist & Entrepreneur. I have been in this work field for the past 14 years. My specialty is Bridal Hair & Make-Up. This has always been my passion to see how a transformation can bring so much joy and happiness to one’s Special Day. Also, being a Hairstylist for over a decade, I specialize in Colors and Cuts. Alongside my full-time schedule at the salon, I run my haircare product line Chita Beauty. I am most proud of building my wide range of clientele from all parts of the country at such a young age and being well-known in the community. One thing that sets me apart from others is my drive for success both in my hair styling techniques as well as my Hair Care Line. There are very few stylists who can juggle these two together and I am proud to be one of them. As a hairstylist for over a decade, I have always searched for the perfect hair products to execute each hairstyle that I create. Chita Beauty has given me a way to share my passion for hair and expertise. This was one of the main reasons why in 2015, I came out with my very first products our Hard Lock and Soft Control Hairsprays. After seeing how successful the results were of these two products, I was determined more than ever to expand the line. Two years later, I was able to add a treatment line to our collection as well as our best-selling style finishing products. Each product is created to help anyone achieve perfect hair in the comfort of their own home. I am mostly proud of producing Gluten-free and Vegan options hair care. Taking into consideration the limitations and standards in our country we truly mean it when we say we have products for all hair types!
Have you ever had to pivot?
In 2022, I had to make the hard choice of leaving my full time hairstyling career to fully focus on my haircare company and grow my brand to its full potential . It was definitely the hardest decision I have ever had to make. I had to drop hundreds of loyal clients that I had built over the last 14 years. But until now they have been very supportive and I’m grateful to have had that amazing journey in something I’m so passionate about. But I definitely had to consider the drastic income decrease that would come with my decision .Which is why I did a lot of thinking and planning before I dropped the brush. I had to consider the costs I still had for my brand, but thankfully it was the best decision I made. I was able to put my full focus on my branding and social media and marketing strategies, which increased our income in the business. And I’m sure that our strength in the business comes from our full resilience and focus to the company.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
We have been working on a few different marketing strategies to source new clientele. We have been successful with Social Media, Pr, Sales Promotion, email campaigns .But our newest marketing strategy has been Direct Selling. In this model, sales agents build face-to-face relationships with customers by demonstrating and selling products away from retail units. Our company reps go to salons and stores to present our products and have the consumer see them in person , smell them, try them. And this has been a great selling strategy for us, because we make sure our products hold up to its name and purpose. And we get great feedback from our customers . Trying new marketing strategies makes your brand stronger and drives more customers to convert. if you try something new and unexpected , you’ll attract engaged followers and consumers who want to learn more. This strategy definitely takes up more time and energy, having to meet potential customers outside the business location, and the need to have excellent sales skills as well as a gregarious, extroverted personality . And this method has been our recent favorite.
