We were lucky to catch up with SUZANNE POWELL recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi SUZANNE, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?

I came up with the idea for my business in 2015 after being diagnosed with breast cancer. After having a mastectomy I had a hard time looking in the mirror. I didn’t feel pretty anymore but one day I had a talk with God and he told me I saved you for a reason and that gave me the courage to look in the mirror again. I started wearing the most fabulous statement jewelry. I felt like a warrior princess every time I wore a nice piece of jewelry. I wanted women to have the same feeling I had when I wore bold statement jewelry so that’s when the idea of my business Pink Purpose Collection was born.

SUZANNE, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Suzanne Powell. Born in Jamaica but grew up in the Bahamas. I’ve had the best of both worlds. My brand Pink Purpose Collection is a company that spreads breast cancer awareness and builds survivor community through fashion and style. I love what I do in the community educating women on Self Examination. My brand empowers women that there is life after any storm. I love when women share how beautiful they feel when they wear our statement jewelry. I solve a lot of problems for my customers when they are looking for jewelry to pair with their outfit. I love jewelry Styling for my clients. As an entrepreneur its hard at time but it takes consistent work and the success is not overnight.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

The advice I would give is build your community first. Once you build the audience will come. This is a lesson I learnt the hard way. I would also say be consistent, introduce yourself to your potential client
Also, your business does not have to be perfect but start anyway!

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

I chose this topic because I did it the wrong way by using my own personal funds to build my business. I didn’t have the tools or resources back then but now I am finally doing my research and in the right direction.
