We were lucky to catch up with Suzanne Ouellette recently and have shared our conversation below.
Suzanne, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
A new way to wardrobe-People are always looking for new ways to present themselves. People are always looking for guidance. This is where I come in. I share my love and knowledge of the fashion industry, customer service and of course astrology! I kept seeing people I know disappointed with what they were buying online. Items not what they are advertised, no customer service, long delivery times, and not sure what they purchased suits their personality or not. People -especially during these trying economic times-are looking for low prices, but quality and service has to matter too. I offer a personalized shopping service based on needs, but also based on personality. Being able to shop according to your zodiac sign is helpful and innovative. I have curated pages of wardrobes for each zodiac sign to offer a starting point for shoppers. I also offer a more personalized wardrobe session based on a person’s individual complete astrological chart. Or, as a shopper you may purchase what you want from any page on the site-it’s your choice! Items are from American Designers and shipped from warehouses in the USA. If you live in the contiguous US your items are shipped for free. The prices aren’t high, but the quality is. Collection Cosmos is looking to make lifelong customers, clients and friends with a fun, innovative way to shop. Enjoy browsing the website at collectioncosmos.com and follow on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest for exciting visuals featuring the fashion for sale.

Suzanne, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
About me? I think some of what I do may be inherited. Two of my great grandfathers were involved in the design and manufacturing of clothing. My two extremely glamorous and worldly grandmothers got me into my lifelong love of astrology. I remember as a child spending Sunday mornings with my mother in front of the TV watching ‘Style with Elsa Klensch’ on CNN. I went on to work for my mother in a high end shoe and clothing boutique. Styling the window displays was my favorite way to express creativity and show the items we were selling-whether in a practical application of everyday life, or a fantasy setting. I strive also in my business to show items that can be worn everyday, or in fantasy type situations based on your unique astrological blueprint. I try to solve the age old question of “What to wear?” Each personality and each situation calls for something different. I like to show how the same dress can be worn multiple ways for different occasions, for example. Some of it practical, some of it fantasy. All of it according to astrology. I enjoy making musical montages to the outfits I have put together on social media. What sets me apart from other online sellers is obviously the knowledge of the zodiac, and the attention to detail shown on my website and my posts. I believe I’m actually the only company selling clothes based on astrology. A novel, but useful concept! I am proud of the relationships I have made in the fashion industry along the way, as I have also spent time working in high end department stores. I know which warehouses to use to get the best product out to the customers in a timely and efficient manner. I strive to use cruelty free products and American designers, so you feel safe shopping on my site.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Yes-this whole undertaking has been sort of a pivotal experience for me. I have actually been a hairstylist by trade for many years. I was born a multi-tasker, so I’ve always had a side hustle that usually involved fashion and retail. As Covid hit, and the salon I work at was forced to close during lockdowns, I had plenty of time on my hands. Time to think of something to supplement my income that maybe a future lockdown would not affect. As the salon re-opened I found some of my clients were slow to come back, or now work from home and didn’t need their hair done as often. I had to act quickly! I combined the fact that I had more time and less money to greenlight this project for myself. It’s now a wonderful balance in my life of making people beautiful from the neck up, and dressing them beautifully from the neck down!

We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
I sell on my own site (for now)-more cost effective, less fees involved. The cons are not as much exposure!
