We recently connected with Susie Shaw and have shared our conversation below.
Susie , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My grandparents raised me & provided great mentoring. My grandfather possessed the gift to gab & was friendly to everyone! He was a respected policeman & always showed kindness. My grandmother was involved in many local clubs such as The Women’s PM Club, The Garden Club ‘ became the President of the Parents Association for Bridgewater State College while I attended. They showed me indirectly that showing up for our community matters. They were my #1 fans & when I look back at these examples, it’s clear as day who helped pave my ways.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
’m a visual artist, business women, humanity lover & lead generator who absolutely flourished on another level once I turned 40! I’ve been an artist since my teens & enjoyed branding, event organizing & creating. Always enjoying creating & promoting. I used to promote night clubs & lounges in Boston ( flyer days) & has enjoyed how to create & manipulate content as the years have gone by.
I’ve had hands on & paid experience since I started my freelance business consulting last year.
I’m proud & blessed to of started my consulting business & obtained my LLC last year. I provide social media strategy & management, content creation, business structure, networking & branding services to my clients. Over the course of this first year, I’ve provided content creation, social media management & promotions to 3 of my clients on a monthly basis.
I started my business because I noticed consistent needs within my local small business community. I knew the solutions to those needs & began the steps to create Shaw Consulting LLC!
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Honestly, word of mouth & referrals have been really the best so far in my business journey. I celebrated a year in January and I have to say I’m thankful that I have had monthly clients on retainer since my first month. I provide business self-care to entrepreneurs and startups in my area & being a true business empath has supported my journey & my clients
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Eight months into my new business my best friend passed away. Eight months into my new business my best friend passed away She was a trailblazer in her own right, and she was my accountability partner since we were children.
When you own your own business, you have to make a decision on how you’re going to stay afloat but also, how are you going to separate tragedy and still show up for your clients.
