Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Susana House. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Susana, thanks for joining us today. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
When I first started my creative journey I was both excited and scared. I wasn’t sure where to start I just knew I wanted to express my artist side as much as possible and also find a way to share my talents with the world. So in between my nine to five job I researched about my newly found interests, that I found allowed me to express myself in different ways. These interests are spirituality, herbal medicine, painting, writing, videography, fashion, the list went on. Shortly after I ran into my first issue, not having enough time to do all that my mind wanted to do. It seemed as if everyone needed my energy all the time when it came to work, family, friends and having a social life. So I had a choice then to either feed this thirst for knowledge that was brewing within me or continue to appease to others. It wasn’t easy at first but when I decided to set boundaries that’s when time started to work for and with me. Then I suddenly started having more free time. Call it magic? Haha. Another issue that I faced after going on this creative journey was the backlash. Not everyone in my life was supportive of my decision to suddenly seek for more from life and expect more from myself. I have had friends walk out of my life without saying a single word. I’ve had others simply watch me from afar and ignore me whenever I reached out. At first I thought I had done something wrong when In reality they couldn’t accept who I was becoming because that meant outgrowing them especially if they chose to stay stagnant in their lives. At that point I realized that I didn’t need people like that in my life. I needed supportive, like minded people that seek more from life and question everything. So I made my peace and moved in silence. Since then I’ve made room for loyal people to come into my life, the kind of people that you can count on.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is for others to be themselves, be authentic, without the fear of being judged. My wish is for people to notice their own self worth and to not be afraid of their own strength. Growing up I always hid myself. I hid myself because I didn’t know how talented I was and how valuable i was and my time. So I feared putting myself and my views out into the world. You see, the only way to thrive in your own skin is to accept who you are, the good and the bad. So my mission is to lead by example. To show others that I once also hid from life and it brought me nothing. Once I allowed me to be my true self to everyone without caring what people thought was when life decided to bloom for me. I started having fun and so then I made way for opportunities and blessings to come towards me.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I recommend, to expand your mind to read any Dolores Cannon book or listen to any of her podcasts. She’s an amazing philosopher, hypnotherapist and author. She takes spirituality to the next level. To relax your mind: poetry. Poetry always allows the mind to drift into a blissful dream. Therefore expanding your mind, allowing it to become more creative and expressive.
Lastly a book I recommend for strength, motivation and positivity is called ‘You are a Badass’. It is all in the name! Haha
