We were lucky to catch up with Susan Littleton recently and have shared our conversation below.
Susan, appreciate you joining us today. Who is your hero and why? What lessons have you learned from them and how have they influenced your journey?
My hero is actually my daughter, Corinne. She is my hero for so many reasons. She has remained true to herself as she has grown older.
She has remained strong in her convictions and not allowed the opinion of others to mold or shape her. She is the most kind-hearted, beautiful, strong, and lovely example of a woman.
Growing up she was different from a lot of girls and was bullied. She has faced many adversities that could have made her bitter. But she is one of the most loving, patient, and non-judgemental people I have ever known.
She is different. But it’s in those differences, I see a woman I want to be like.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Susan. I am a writer, singer, teacher, and recently a self-published author.
I have sang all my life. My passion is worship. I had the privilege of being a worship leader for 8 years. It was an honor and it taught me so much about leadership.
I started writing as a young adult by journaling and writing small devotions. I would journal my thoughts, dreams, problems, and concerns. Soon the writing turned into poetry. And I learned that I was gifted by God in this area.
I have continued to write, as time will allow, and I just recently self-published my first poetry book, The Fragrance of My Heart.
I currently work as a Business Administrator for a local House of Worship and attend there regularly.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, being a creative has brought so much fulfillment to my life. Such a satisfaction settles deep within you when you allow creativity to flow from who you are. It’s a part of you and creating allows you to see yourself come to life in a different way.
It may be writing, building, drawing, encouraging others, etc. But whatever it may be, allowing yourself to dream and create is most rewarding.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I have written so many things throughout my life. I never thought until the last few years to do something with it. I would love to see more of my writings in a book. My dream is to begin my publishing journey.
