We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Susan Hicks a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Susan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today. How’s you first get into your field – what was your first job in this field?
I actually started out as a nursing assistant when I was 16. I attended vocational school during high school. At the time, I just wanted the credits, but it’s where I first got my itch for taking care of people. After the first year I was hired on at a local small hospital in the ICU. Watching and assisting the nurses taught me about who and what I wanted to be.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
Primary Care; I listen, I look at the person as a whole to treat them not their symptoms. A simple example; patient complained of pain in the throat with swallowing. After about a year he had been sent to 3 specialists, had upper scope, CTs, Xrays, and a swallow study. When I saw this person, after a few questions, we found he had a pulled muscle in the neck. With the right treatment, they have been without this problem since.
Acute Care; I leave space open for walk in needs where most do not.
Wellness; As I mentioned, I like to treat all of people. Although insurance doesn’t cover everything; we offer services to help with weight loss, nutritional deficiencies, energy, and build strength.
We offer the follow;
Emsculpt Neo which burns fat and builds muscle simultaneously and pain free. I have personally used this to close my abdominal separation that no workout could do.
Emsella; the only pelvic floor stimulator where you keep your clothes on. Non-invassive, and improves blood circulation too. This helps with incontinence, pelvic restoration, and improved sensation.
IV and IM Nutritional Therapies; most effective and simple way to restore balance and improve several body functions.
Medical Weight Loss; weight loss is hard, I struggled too. Now I get to help others reach their same goals with several different and safe modalities.
Hormone Therapy; hormones effect so many aspects of our lives; men and women. Men worry stigma with admitting low testosterone, but have so much improvement in several aspects of life outside of the bed too. Women get to pre and during menopause thinking they just have to suffer, but there are so many options out there to help.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Word of mouth. Listen to your clients and help them; when people go from having problems to now functioning better, they talk about this.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Same as above for the most. Social media of course and search engines.
