We were lucky to catch up with Susan Bennett recently and have shared our conversation below.
Susan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
From early on, I have known that I have wanted to be of service to others, which led me to the field of mental health counseling. I’ve pursued two graduate degrees to get me to the place where I could create a safe space to help others heal. Feeling more and more drawn to the energetic and spiritual sides of life, I pursued my training in Reiki healing, Mediumship work at Arthur Findlay College, and Gabrielle Bernsteins’ Spirit Junkie Masterclasses. These modalities have helped me to combine psychotherapy and spirituality. This has been a pleasure and honor to continue to bring this to those I serve with the loving intention that they grow and evolve along their journey towards healing. This is very meaningful work to me, because it comes from my heart and soul. I cannot picture myself doing anything else in this world, and my hope is that each person I work with feels this when they work with me!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was born and raised in Lawrence Massachusetts to two working class parents. I attended public schools and watched my mom stay home and my dad create his business. At age 9, everything in my life changed when my dad died suddenly and unexpectedly. My mom and I were alone and left to figure out how to live life without my dad. Everything became a challenge. Through this very difficult experience of losing my father, and watching my mother suffer tremendously, I learned many lessons. Compassion for others, resilience, and relying upon God/Source/Universe/Sprit to help and guide me through. My parents were an example of compassion in action. I learned how to work hard, keep going, keep my Faith, and love others from them both. Born from tragedy was my ability to connect to the other side in more depth than in my younger years. Learning how to meditate/pray/ground my energy, and listen to my inner knower brought me strength whenever I needed it. I am very proud of my background and where I came from.
I believe that my personal experiences can help me have understanding, empathy, and compassion for those I work with in my practice today. I want my clients to know that I am genuine and my hope is to help you bring out your truest and most authentic and confident you possible.
I provide mental health counseling, spiritual coaching, Reiki healing, intuitive readings, and a monthly women’s’ intuition development group. I hope to add meditation circles in the near future as well.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Gabrielle Bernsteins work on A Course in Miracles has impacted my work in a significant way. This work teaches us that by challenging fears that we all have and by deep diving into the road blocks that prevent us from having the life that we want to live, we can work through them and get to where we want to be, and live a happy and fulfilled life. WOW! This simple yet profound method of living has rocked my world, and has impacted the minds of many in the most positive way. I’ve been able to work through many a personal and profession issue using these amazing tools.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Knowing that there is life beyond the physical world that we know here has been the most fulfilling for me. To be able to touch a small microcosm of what is beyond our physical reality has been an honor, and I continue to be in awe of this each day. I must give many thanks to my late mentor and medium Janice Tarver, who guided me through many times of confusion, worry and fright. Janice lovingly and kindly taught me what was happening when I had a spiritual breakthrough. Janice would help support me when I needed to make decisions about mediumship, or to just talk about the enormity of the work. I know she is still guiding me. Thank you Janice for all of your support, compassion and guidance that I still feel to this day!
