We recently connected with Sus Valentino and have shared our conversation below.
Sus, appreciate you joining us today. Looking back on your career, have you ever worked with a great leader or boss? We’d love to hear about the experience and what you think made them such a great leader.
I worked at Chase Bank for a while. My bosses name was Ali. Nicest guy I ever met and also the wisest. He really showed me that just because you’re an employee doesnt mean you arent a person. He taught me alot of valuable life lessons that I’ll take with me for life

Sus, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was a freshman at Hastings High School. I’ll never forget I had a friend named Marlon and we made a shit load of creative plans. I wanted to make merch and what not, but I sprouted more towards the music all with his inspiration. I went on to make alot of tracks and became friends with $not, or as I know him, Edy. He showed me alot of musical loopholes and also taught me how to really make my vocals sound crisp and clean. He opened a pathway for me in the underground world and really got my music out there. I’ll always credit him for the small music family I have. Ive gotta say though, I’m most proud of staying authentic. I never signed with a shitty label, never worked with fake hollywood artists or paid for features, I just did my own thing and never cared about numbers or fame. This shits just fun to me

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Being acknowledged. Alot of artists come about this shit just wanting money, but to get that money you must be acknowledged. Its nice knowing that people fuck with you, you know? The first time I ever got approached by one of my supporters that shit made my year. I felt like damn this how my music got yall? bet

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
more loyalty. Alot of people call themselves loyal supporters but they are part timers. I cant fuck with someone who will watch my story and reply to my songs but wont listen to it when it drops. I cant fuck with someone who will abandon my sound because they found a new sound to suit them. Thats not how this shit works. If you call yourself a supporter than you fasho damn right better show love
