We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Surbhi Saxena a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Surbhi, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My main motive is to restore hope and optimism in order to encourage individuals to develop a more hopeful and reassuring look on life. As a model, I am aware of how tedious the standards can be in the beauty industry. I believe that mental health is a very important aspect of life and should be acknowledged and talked about, especially since I feel that society sometimes fails to bring awareness to it. My brand, Bliss Abroad Clothing is an affirmation based clothing line that was created to promote the well being of mental and spiritual health. Our goal is to encourage people to have better relationships with not only their surroundings, but also themselves. We aim to mindfully celebrate beauty and style in a way that doesn’t just make you feel good on the outside, but also whole heartedly on the inside as well. <3

Surbhi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I honestly never thought that I would one day take a leap in the entrepreneurial field, especially considering how risky it can be—however, I always knew that my main purpose in this world was to uplift the collective during my time here. After all, we can only rise by lifting others up.
Growing up, my family didn’t always have a lot, but we were happy. My father moved us to the United States in 2012 in hopes of giving us a better life, but unfortunately ended up passing away in 2017. His tragic loss forced my family to go through a disturbing period where we under went a lot of setbacks and mental discomfort. Being an immigrant who was unable to go back to my country, I felt like I was constantly being dealt bad cards, and overall, just wasn’t given a fair chance to experience life’s offerings to its fullest potential. Those challenging times led to my discovery of spirituality and I found mental fortitude through meditational practices and affirmations.
Generally speaking, affirmations are used to reprogram the subconscious mind to encourage us to believe certain things about ourselves, the world, and our place within it. They also help us create the reality we want—often in terms of manifesting wealth, love and happiness. What we believe about ourselves at a subconscious level can have a significant impact on the outcome of events.
I want my story to inspire others to find that light during their dark times, which is why I created Bliss Abroad Clothing. My affirmation-based clothing is a constant reminder for struggling individuals to stay hopeful because every breakdown is making way for a new breakthrough.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Honestly, just be yourself, and the right target audience will follow! You have to be the energy that you want to attract.
Effective methods also involve:
– creating smart goals
– tracking meaningful metrics
– identifying target audience + finding ways to stay relevant within what your campaign/business is about
– creating a community of dedicated followers
– using brand advocates
– creating relevant, connected experiences
– using the right social media strategies to ensure success (i like to go live, post videos/reels, keep my account active, and interact with my followers)

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I am an avid reader who loves to read self-help books. I find it healing and inspiring to read at least part of one personal development book a day, because it truly helps me interpret myself and the world in a positive manner. They also motivate me to make better choices and take positive actions more often.
Some of my favorite self help books so far have been:
– The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
– The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
– The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
