Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Supriya Sharma. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Supriya, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
The most riveting share of my lessons learned way back in school is – to believe in yourself, it matters not if anybody else does but you must. Start small, start where you are, and go with what you have. You might find yourself trekking the path to the achievement of your goal alone, keep in mind you are your biggest strength. I quit my 8-figure salary job with all the comforts a professional can dream of to start a business in a humble setting making minus income. That wasn’t a risk on the professional front alone but on the personal and community front as well. And had I not gathered the courage to step out of my comfort zone in 2016, grace wouldn’t have found me.
As a woman entrepreneur in a patriarchal society, I still a plethora of challenges, they don’t deter me or encourage me to quit; they only reinforce my pride in being a ‘wholesome woman’ and letting the world know that I’m here to stay and influence, ready to risk all it takes.
What penultimately matters to the human race is how we sprinkle stardust to create memorable experiences for ourselves and those we come across in this lifetime, and that’s exactly the message emanating from ‘CX…Oh!’, the brand that I live, feeling the magic every single day!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Fondly known to be a business alchemist credited with constructively contributing to the quadruple bottom line of organizations of varied sizes and sectors for a decade, I am a trusted partner for the success of management teams.
In my journey of transition from a C-suite leader to an award-winning entrepreneur, I ventured deeper into the corporate world on one axis and elevated on the spiritual level on another axis; their point of intersection is where my vision of ”illuminating the world with magical experiences” met me. Then was born a niche brand ‘CX…Oh!’ with the motto – ”experience the magic of service”. Our forte lies in strategizing to enrich the service excellence journeys of companies, with a resourceful alloy of culture transformation, design thinking, principles of aerospace engineering, and an enterprising mindset. With a humble beginning in the vibrant city of Lagos in West Africa, we expanded globally and companioned clients in success across Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America, ranging from government offices, not-for-profit businesses, and small and medium startups to million-dollar multinationals. The beauty of a magical experience is that it gels well into our personal and social lives too, not just at workplace; now everyone can capitalize on the experience economy. Exciting, isn’t it?
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
‘Managing on the Edge’ by Richard Tanner Pascale is a management primer and a startling book that never ceases to uplift my perspective on what it takes for companies to strategize innovation and ace competition. Having been the only and the youngest female in a boardroom full of business veterans at the age of 21, I found myself juggling a number of balls with an either/or mindset, till I stumbled on this real tour de force that evangelizes cultivating and harnessing tension as the key to effective management. If I put it in simple terms, it’s about burgeoning an ‘and’ disposition. Contention and contradiction aren’t to be felt uneasy with, in fact, conflict is a brilliant resource for creative tension that can be mobilized to stay ahead in the game.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
People will forget what you said, but they always remember how you made them feel. This is a golden rule to build a life of purpose and fits snugly into business too. It is the exceptional service that we render to our clients which makes them choose us time and again.
